I'm been using ikon gov with castle edge 120 for about a year (about 300 flights). Never had a "hot start". Don't use dead zone as my ikon throttle min is calibrated at arming and not way below it. I looked at the mtr posted, and I certainly see nothing wrong with it, but don't understand why the throttle min has been taking below arming point and then dead zone added. I use the KISS principle. I've been using 4.19 on castle. Just updated to 4.22, hopefully my troubles aren't about to begin ;-)

I'm using plane fast mode, I never got the "secret" external gov mode to work.

The ikon has full control of my esc.

Weather let up and got a chance to try new software today.

Initial impressions on an old timer 3D set-up on a Protos 500, YGE 60, MSH Motor, 14 tooth pinion, 430 blades. 2200 & 1880 head speeds.

Cyclic felt good on new default settings with just the rotation rate turned down a touch. Cyclic possibly felt more predictable and consistent than previous version, but no back to back so cant be sure. Tail was pretty well sorted before and kept same settings. Never liked Pitch boost on other systems but this one felt good (predictable!). Very helpful with lower head speed set-ups.

The Governor.... Tried the previous version and for me, it worked well for on load manouvers, but I did not like it when off-loaded. For same set-up, previous version was however very close to V-Bar governor in that they both seemed to suffer same advantages and disadvantages. The new Gov software feels like a step up. It was very smooth, very consistent and very reactive to on or off loads. Early days, but (on my set-up) I would say as smooth and well behaved as a Kontronic Jive, but holds RPM a lot better. Impressive work!

Defintely 2 thumbs up on the governor. Fantasic work done there. Working really well on my 700 electric. Also hit the size to load new defaults. Working well on both my 700 e and n models.

Tried out the new firmware on both my 480xx and E5s today and I liked it quite a bit. I need to work on the tail gains again as it seemed to be a bit soft in the wind with the new FW. Otherwise everything flew nicely and the gov was way better doing on-off-on load type maneuvers. I did have one issue:

BUG REPORT:

On the E5s, my second flight of the day I powered up (2S flight pack) and went through my preflight and the tail refused to go past the middle of it's travel. It init'd to the center and then simply would not go further to the tail hub side but worked normally going towards the tail box side. Also trying to get extension by moving the heli around in HH mode would not get the slider past the center.

It's like the half the tail endpoints got set to 0. I did try pushing on the tail servo arm to see if I could get it to go past center and it resisted me when powered up. I powered it down and the tail servo was smooth and had full travel.

I unplugged the power and plugged in again and I had full travel again and the ikon behaved normally and worked fine for the other 4 flights I did.

Let me know if you guys need any details or logs(if there are any). This could have ended badly if I hadn't done my control surface check and noticed this issue.

Default Playing in the garden

Try out the new Firmware with my HD500 cell.

Very stable governor mode with mezon 120rpm and turnado v3 Motor
Tail is much mor stable as before, perhaps the governor improvement.

I'm really glad to get the new Firmware Thanks.

Was damned cold here in german, so i tried it only in my neighbours garden.

@ onTheSnap, do you have a mtr file for your HD500 to be able to compare your file with mine ???
Would be great if possible, if not doesn't matter.

Regards

Marco

If I use multitrotor ESC, which is 400Hz, is it better for iKON gov than other ESC???

When you say you are running collective precomp in the Gov settings @ 30, Are you referring to the common menu in advanced under Pitch Precomp or Cyclic precomp or Both? I

I run 30 on collective, 20 on cyclic and 5 on tail on my 700 electric. Works great... And yes these advanced menu common governor gains.

What would be the sane precompensation values for a 450? I set the collective precompensation to 50 just to see how it works, and got an involuntary autorotation on my next flight - I wonder if it could have contributed.

got some flights in today.

It's good. Good job OTS and Highfreq. Gov felt good. Did you do any tail stuff? My piro's were flatter and more consistent with my X3. But they may also be that i made sure i was at 10 degree cyclic.

thanks again.

Thanks! It was a ton of work, but I appreciate that others see the results.

The gov feed forward and other major parts of the gov were complete re-writes of code. The new gov is far better in terms of minimal impact to the tail.

There is also tail drag compensation. So during piro pogos for example the heli stays much flatter.

I'm not the one doing the work. (-: But hear it should be inside a week. Please don't quote me if I'm wrong.

Corrado said another week, but you know how development goes. Things have a way of slowing down the process when least expected.
