Default Pitch Setting

I have been flying the Stingray for awhile now on 4S with a DX8 (stock and pretty much forgot how to set it up). Upgraded the firmware and switched to a DX18 so I have been going through it, everything is good but I have one question.

On the max pitch setting the manual describes the high and low travel adjust to be 150% and then reduce travel until the LEDs comes on, both the 2013 and 2014 manuals reflect this. For me the LEDs are on from 150 down to 125ish and off below 124ish .So I set the travel adjust to 130 rather than 150.

I would guess that 130 is like +-12 degrees of heli pitch and 150 is like +-14 degrees of heli pitch. Just depends on what you need but anywhere between 130 and 150 will keep the controller happy. About right?

Thanks,

Ron

Smile probably ok

Sounds about right.
Though 0 pitch and pitch range is set up later.

Main thing is to check everything is going in the right direction before test flight.

Even when things are wrong it becomes evident on spool up that things are not quite right before take off and damage is caused.

Interested to know if there is much difference between the dx8 and 9.

Can't say if all the DX18 features are in the DX9 but for sure it is an upgrade from the DX8. I like being able to set the warning so it goes off when throttle hold is off on power up or switching between models. The DX8 warns when the hold is on. You can sort your models anyway you want which is great. Case is slimmer, no more antenna to worry about, sticks are nicer (opinion). The put more information of the servo information onto one screen so less paging through the screens. Programming takes a bit longer because you can change more things but like the DX8 it is simple enough. Text can be smaller and harder to read but I am getting use to it. Over all just better.

I tried both the 130 and 150 max pitch settings, just seems to give more max pitch which is good and bad, Probably will just keep experimenting to make sure I don't over load the motor when yanking too hard on the sticks when in panic mode.
