Father went to our local hobby shop (warranty issue Blade Nano S2) and they still had two 360CFX 6S for sale. Since the model has been discontinued and replaced by 360 Fusion, the salesman made him an offer he could not resist.

So he now owns two 360 CFX

Maybe he will "give" you one of them . It's a very lightweight powerhouse on 6S. It's also pretty easy to to work on. It can be run on as low as 3S if you make some ESC adjustments. It's a Castle 35 so you'll need their interface.

Very smart.
The 6S version performs really nice. I was a little dissapointed by the 3S version.

Sadly, I crashed my 360cfx 3s yesterday ... in spectacular fashion ... I don't know what happened... I couldn't seem to control it just doing a circuit I've done a hundred times. It ended up wildly out of control and heading into the pit/parking area. Hit throttle hold, yelled "look out!" and it doinked off the steel cable of someones trailer ramp. Just missed his foam planes sitting there. There were people around there too... So embarrassed. They said it wasn't even the scariest thing that's ever happened there

Only things that are broken are the canopy mount on the one side, and a couple teeth out of the main gear. All of the linkages came off. There is a scratch on the tail boom right where tail servo mounts. Servo mounts were askew. Not sure if anythings bent yet. Going to pull it apart soon and check.

I was not a fan of that wild ride. Crashing out in the flying field is one thing ... heading back into the pit area is something else. And, I'm not sure if it was me or mechanical. It didn't seem to want to turn. Before I trust it again, i'll have to go out there and fly it when no ones there to check if its ok after repairs.

Wow... shook for about 20 minutes after that one.

Glad nobody was hurt. My guess is one of the H3050 servos failed. I had that happen on a 230S twice and finally stopped using them. Make sure you check them under load.

I don't suppose you can figure that out without actually flying it? Like they will work fine while not spooled up sitting on the bench? It seems like all the servos move as they are supposed to while not spooled up.

You can simply use your finger to put some pressure on them. I made up a wood block I can mount servos in and hook them to rubber bands for testing.

I've flown my dad's "old" 360 cfx and indeed it's a lightweight powerhouse. It also might be a good replacement for my Align 450

I'll give it some thoughts and will decide after my holiday.

Aucchhh.... luckily nobody got hit or hurt!

They say" crashing is part of the game" but apart from the repair cost, it always leaves me with a dented ego aswell.

What should I look for? Like will one of them be less strong than the others or hear some ticking like gear slipping? Something like that?

Slippage, sticking, twitching, etc. I gave up using H3050's and have replaced them in my helis since they've caused me so much grief. Now the H3060 tail servos have been fine.

A cheap servo tester is nice to have around if you don't have one:

Forgive my ignorance... I found that one from your picture: https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Tester...=fsclp_pl_dp_1

What does it do exactly? Just operates the servos to see if they work or is there some sort of methodology it uses to tell you if the servo is bad or so on?

It just operates the servos (up to four at a time) in various modes. It also will center them for you like most FBL's. It's not a necessary item just handy.

I do the above with finger pressure. I was able to hold back the rear cyclic servo... but i didn't hear any ticking sounds or anything ... does that indicate a problem? If not, I can't find anything else wrong so I suspect the problem was me ...

Sounds like it's fine. In the future I wouldn't go as far as to completely stop it moving as you might strip it.

You never know what happened sometimes. It's just the nature of these things. I had two times one of mine recently just lost motor power and I had to do emergency autos (I don't practice them btw). I re-oriented the antennas and re-soldered the ESC wires but the logs showed no disconnects and very little frame loss each time. It's been fine since so who knows.

always possible interference and all sorts of things I suppose. I wondered about the guy sitting there with a 1000 watt open TX transmitter flying the plane that was 10 miles away with FPV and whether that had anything to do with it as well... who knows?

After flying my 230s v2 this past weekend (360cfx is waiting for parts still), I think it was me. It was cloudy again this weekend. And more than once I became unsure of what the heli was doing. Also that crash was confidence shaking ... I've definitely lost confidence ... Oh well, I'll keep plugging away - 360cfx parts should be here this week!

Cloudy with flat light can make it easy to get visually disoriented. These helicopters are small and hard to see at distance. I think the self-leveling recovery mode is needed on all these small heli's. Too bad the Blade 360 doesn't have that, unless you add it.

I found out last night that I have a vibration of some kind. It vibrates violently at a certain speed during spool up and spool down (even tipped over during spool down). I assume its still vibrating at full speed but just less violently. it flew OK though I've lost confidence since the crash and was extremely nervous so I just hovered.

Going to be chasing down a vibration I guess. I've never had to do that before but I'm going to start with the feathering shaft and linkages (looking to see if they are bent). No way to get any sort of vibration logs out of the AR636 right?

Nope no logs on AR636. Best of luck as chasing down vibes can be a frustrating process.
