John, thanks for taking the pics.

In the bright outdoors it doesn't look (to me) like it's too gold. In the Mikado USA website picture it looks like a darker/deeper gold.

I'm just not a bling type person and always liked standard grey or silver radios and they will not heat up as much as black when out in the 90 degree, bright sun summer days.

If silver isn't going to be available soon (as in less than a month) I might just go with the gold. They are contemplating several more colors I've heard.

Hi Dave,

Yeah I was surprised at how silver looking it was, the official Mikado pictures doesn't seem to show it's real colour, I think they cheated a little with the lighting or used filters or photoshop on those pics.

If you stand it next to a DX8 you can see it's not silver but has a slight tint of gold to it.

Sounds good. Now I'm just waiting for them to be restocked.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Special thanks to John for the pics.

I ordered a champagne VBar control today!

Hopefully I'll have the NEO to go with it soon.

Awesome! You are going to love it.

At the moment I don't have a Neo but they do look good, I'm not sure if I can justify the outlay though as I'm only a scale flyer, I've had over 3000 flights on all my big birds and only three crashes and those were all down to link failure, if that happens the Neo wouldn't have helped.

Maybe one day I will get one and try it.

So guess what I found when I arrived home from work?

Yep, it's AWESOME!!!!

The color is nice too. Not at all like the gold champagne hue in the picture.

The sticks feel awesome too. I'm still waiting for the NEO but I do have a dumb question...

I ordered the radio and it came with an RX Satellite.

I also ordered the NEO with VLink for my 600SE that should connect by itself to the VBar control with nothing else needed.

In addition, I ordered a 04882-Mikado-VBar satellite for my Logo 500 (running a silverline) which AFAIK, is the same exact satellite that came with the VBar control.

If the NEO with VLink connects all by itself, then I actually have (2) 4882 satellites when I only need 1 for the Logo 500.

Can someone confirm?

All the VControl radios currently come with a satellite bundled. That made sense when it was the only way to connect it with a VBar. Less so now with VLink. I'm expecting different bundles at some point, but haven't heard anything about when they might change.

Anyway, you do have a spare sat. You can either hang on to it to connect an old VBar to your radio (for a plane or whatever) or sell it.

I do love the look of the champagne one I'm so glad that it doesn't look like the picture on the website. It's odd that they say metal coated. You can see the injection molding flow lines by the speaker cuts.
Which is fine with me I actually prefer nothing being able to flake off or peel when it get's older. Not sure if a different color option is worth the $200 price tag but for me it was because I like the look and keeps it cooler. Still trying to wrap my head around the use of the radio.
Just finished one conversion last night so I'll have a model to play around with finally.

Gimbals feel super smooth I was pleasantly surprised. I wish that I could get helix to work with vsim but so far no go it's assigning pitch to a knob and I don't see how to correct that yet. Works fine with the USB in sim mode.

Just a FYI when I was ordering mine they offered dropping the RX Sat and lower the price to compensate. That may be a good option if you're going all Neo. But I'll need a couple extra anyway to convert my other vbars.

Bumping an old thread. I have taken delivery of a used Vcontrol classic champagne. It has the external antenna in the handle, which unfortunately I have damaged by mistake. I have a spare 2.4GHz antenna which I have mounted but I'm away that the metallic paint is actual metal, hence the ext. antenna.

Is this on the outside as well as the inside, or just inside? I have already wrapped the Tx in vinyl so removing the coating on the inside is OK, but outside is going to be a problem. Having said that, the condition of the paint was so bad that I removed much of it with sandpaper and acetone before we wrapped it.
