Default V-Bar control flight analyzer

Hello V-Bar Control Freaks,

I became a little fed up with the nice battery logging capabilities of the V-Bar Control but no easy way to actually see the data, so I have developed a small program to fetch the logs from it and group them together for easier viewing.

This is like an automatic flight log with data recorder. You can check your flights on a certain model, a certain battery. It can also combine data into sessions. It gives you total flight time, total cycles of the batteries and more.

The program do not write anything to the control EVER, it is safe to use. The fetched data is stored on the computer so you only need the V-Bar Control connected when importing data.

My Current version of software on V-Bar Control is 1.1-867 and I do not know if it works with newer versions asof now (VBar Neo). I will of course update the software if not.

There is a GUI version of the program, and also a commandline version. The program works on Windows, Linux and Mac but as of now only windows has downloadable exe package. The command line version, which is also very nice is easy to get going in both Mac and Linux, but you need to be somewhat more computer savvy.

To get going insert the V-Bar Control into the computer using USB and turn it on, and start the log analyzer, it should fire up and the connected status should be green. Choose menu item File/Import to import your data from the control. You can repeat this whenever you want to get more data from the control

You can download the latest release from here, or check out the sources using git

https://github.com/Lussarn/vcontrol-...lyzer/releases

Update:
As the battery logging of V-Bar control needs the UI Sensor, you need the UI sensor on your models to use this program.

There is a new relase, v2.0.5. Mikado changed logformat at some point in time and added model information. I check for this now. v.2.0.4 is unable to import old flights.

Great job on this tool.

Could you give the option in the File menu of pointing it to a folder location that you have previously backed up your VControl data to? Instead of only being able to pull live data from the radio?

Where does it save the imported data to on your system?

Thanks!

Hi Kevin, thanks for the feedback

I'm not making any promises on future development but your request is noted.

The data on your computer is stored in your home folder and is called .vcontrol.db, for you it would be something like:

C:/Users/Kevin/.vcontrol.db

If you want to reset and import again, delete this file.

New version out!

v2.3.0 adds two features
Ability to see vbar log of your flight
Ability to see UI graphs over your flight

To use the UI graph you need to enable "write Logfile" in Application setup / UI Sensor

Only new flights from installing of this version gets logfile/sensor graphs. To see log/Sensor graph double click on the "Yes" in the list if available.

This version should keep all data from previous version, and should be a seamless upgrade. However, if you want to start over remove the ".vcontrol.db" in your home folder. For me that would be C:\Users\Linus\.vcontrol.db

The time to import data have increased a bit. Importing 200+ flights with sensor data for the last flights takes about a minute on my computer.

The sensor data is still a little on the rough side, there is no possibilty to Zoom/Pan, enable/disable values. You can however use it to tune your governor, you will easily see if PWM is maxed out.

Happy Flying!

All thanks to my users, you are part of why I'm doing this. So please leave feedback!

With that said, we have a new release.

Major feature is the ability to Zoom in the UI graph. Just hold left mousebutton over a range to select. To unzoom press right mousebutton.

I have also worked on the look of the program, particularly the list. It's starting to look nice now. I have also reversed the list, newest flights are on top.

Download at github

Releases just keep on coming here! I had a thought on how to use this for some added security. I have added a red background on the VBar log column if you have a severe problem, it's now possible to see this at the moment you import your data. The background will NOT turn red on extreme vibration messages as you get them on all hard flights.

In my pic here I had a "Sensor value out of range" while carrying the helicopter, so no crashed helicopter from that one...

Another feature is the ability to see all logs, not just the flights. Before only logs where you used 1/4 of your battery showed up, it's now an option. I like to keep it an option as normally you would like to see how many flights you got in.

I have also removed the date picker and added a "Season picker", it was just too much micro management and nobody likes that in a GUI.

You will find the vcontrol-gui.exe here
https://github.com/Lussarn/vcontrol-...ses/tag/v2.5.0

Keep flying
/Linus
