Default Unsucessful maiden

I was wondering what everyone else thought.
I finally got to maiden my stingray and it broke. I spooled it up and waited about 10 seconds before I left the ground. brought it up in a nice hover. everything looked good. I started a slow clockwise circuit and about a quarter of the way in, the right rear head breaks off and goes flying. Needless to say, it fell like a sack of bricks. Damage looks minimal. All the booms are bent. So the question is, What happened? Has anyone else ran into this? It was new, I built it myself and test hovers were perfect.

SORRY about the crash. Too bad.

Is it stock ? You built it from a new kit ?

It's mostly stock. I swapped the 4s motor for a scorpion 6s. Other than that all the electrics are the same. I did build it myself from a new kit. It looks like the crash will cost $56 bucks. not bad.

I am not sure what would cause the rotor shaft to break. Vibration, shock ?

Maybe email CYH.

Default Make it secure

Happened to me.
I use about 1ft of PTFE tape to ensure the rotor case is firmly on the boom.
If the rotor case can move it flies off and breaks the little plastic lugs.

I found you can use 2mm cap screws to secure the case on the boom. Easier than Phillips screws. I still have the Phillips on mine just made sure they are tight with no movement in the case. But if I have to rebuild in the future I will use the cap screws.
