The esc has come a long way with the changes in fw and the new v5.01 software. The esc has some features that other escs dont. The pro version is a great esc and performs very very well.

I personally fly the 200a in my 3 blade 800 and the 160 in my other 800 with no issues.

the esc was not necessarily in any beta phase. Hifei being the manufacturer had released it with what they believed to be working after their testing. Unfortunately, when it hit the masses, It may have not had or acted like other escs on the market. The new v5.01 software resolves data logging issues and the latest fw adds a feature that other escs dont have. All in all, it's a very well performing esc at a great price with great features.

So... You mentioned twice that it has a feature that no other esc has. What is the feature?

When other escs go into thermal shut down, it is is a hard cutoff. The KKIII Pro doesn't do that. If the throttle position is above 50%, it will soft cutoff to 50% throttle position to allow for a safe landing, instead of just shutting the kotor down. If the throttle position is below 50%, no change in output. Once the esc sees 0% throttle position again, the condition resets and operates as normal.

I'm can't say that all other escs, go into hard cutoff because I have not personally used all the escs on the market, but I do know that most of them do go into a hard cutoff and completely stops motor power.

Neat. Must really be beating on your Heli to cause that on a 160a, much less 200a esc

I thought following on from my previous report it was time for an update, to ensure everyone interested knows what is going on:

I bought two KK3 PRO, the one I was flying has been performing well in flight, but as I said the logging was not working. I was in contact with the factory through skype, which is their preferred way of doing things. I was asked to try a number of things, in the end I insisted they take the ESC back to be examined and repaired, they were happy to do this.
I then put my spare KK3 on the Diabolo. The logging was working on this and the bench tests were good. I flew it for the first time I had purchased it. 2 min into the flight the ESC did a hard cut and failed. When I tried to restart the motor it was shuddering with perhaps loss of commutation. The motor is fine. My external logs showed a peak amp of 180 and min cell V of 3.14 The esc was programmed to soft cut at 3.0v.Temps were normal. No issues with connectors.
I reported this back, it would work on 7S but not on 14S,13S or 12S (although the motor shuddering was better on 12S) when he asked me to try 8S I said whats the point I fly 14S. So now this ESC has gone back as well.

So far since owning the KK3 I have had to send one or the other back 3 times now.

Just an update following on from my previous post.

Ouch, that doesn't seem good. Just out of curiousity, when did you purchase them and did you update to the latest firmware before use?

No one posted in here for ages, is no news good news? Are the pro versions on the latest firmware/softwate working well?

Thinking about getting a 160 pro for a 700 build in the new year.

I picked one up a couple weeks ago. Been too busy to get out and fly with holidays approaching. I'm sure it will work well. Matt from MD has excellent customer service.

The latest pc software v5.02 that is now on the website has solved the data logging issue for all the KKIII ESCs. The latest FW also has solved some of the previous bugs as well.
