Stretch boom is indeed from the Blade SR. It's 16mm longer than stock. Tail motor end pushes straight in, although the precut alignment slots are a few mm shorter, which will effectively make the boom 16mm longer, plus a bit. Heli end of boom needs a slot cutting. Easy little job with a file or dremmel. I would recommend using a file though. The metal is so thin that a dremmel removes the material a bit too quickly and it is all too easy to wander off course.
I actually bought it because I was in the LHS stocking up on a few spares and refused to pay 10 ($15.30) for a piddly little bit of Ali tube, so looked for something cheaper to cut down and make fit. Blue sr boom looked very close in it's packet and was half the price at 5. It shows up a bit better being blue also. Found a stock of black SR booms online being cleared out for just 2. Got plenty of booms now
Obviously it makes the tail heavy problem even worse, but I am using mainly using 1300 ish size lipos, so can still balance OK. Last few flights I have even been using the 245 woodies from the stock 300x, just cos I have them already. All the blades I have been trying are from my 300x. They all seem to fly fine. This heli seems not too picky. I plan to cut the boom down a bit. I doesn't need to be quite this long, even to clear the 255's. Which blade is best is hard to say. Depends what you're after and how you fly. For the noob to average pilot I would probably just go with the stocks in a louder colour. In carbon prolly the Blade 245's, although they are spendy at 25 a pair here. The Gaui's are very small in chord, and need shims for the very thin root. Will try the zeals when I run out of blades...

Ya you're set on booms for a while. Heli flies fine with crunched up booms too so long as pretty much straight haha.

I almost ordered some BSR booms a while ago. Going to try out a carbon tail once I get a carbon frame made up. Don't want a stiff carbon boom to bust up the back of the frame in an inevitable crash.

Default 3D Hub

RcBound, I love the idea of the 3D hub! What gear PN are you using? Is it an exact fit with respect to number of teeth? I crashed my 230s on its 4th flight and now I have to wait until Nov for the gear to get off of back order. I like the idea of the sacrificial hub to save the more expensive items from damage down the line.
I have access to CAD and a 3D printer, any chance you could PM your STL file for me to try? I would love to be flying now while the weather is still mild in the North East. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm off to class but will PM you the STL file. The hub fits the 300,450 main gear. fits very well.but not perfect, as most 3D prints aren't 100% perfect. I will reprint one today during class with a slightly larger main shaft hole because I had to bore it out ever so slightly and donto have a drill press. The main gear barely oscillates up and down with one of my hubs. It meshes with the pinion well and has a constant mesh so almost flew it...but swapped out for the Rakon hub for now.

I'll be in touch later today and maybe I'll even perform a test flight of one today also.

Each time that HH had the main gears on back order I managed to find some on amazon.com

The stock main gear seems to shred pretty easy even if Thold was hit before crashing.

Filmed my buddy's 230S from my P3A last night.

Small bird, you'll want to go HD and full screen. Impressive little bird for a micro trainer....

Yes, the one reason I haven't uploaded too much footage is that I'm not confident to fly right in front of the camera on the deck where it's easily visible.

We'll get the camera ship and heli much closer next time when there is a spotter involved.

Ya been putting my camera out on a pod and doing some inverted hovers and rainbow out. Or fast tail out loops right at the camera. Get some good farts...almost didn't want to climb into a loop yesterday haha thought I was going to get a 230S in the face. I recently set my pitch limits to about 14.5 or 15

My head speed holds slightly higher using my Taranis vs the DXe. Cant go into the FBL and cranking up and sort of limit that I know of.
