People stop complaining about specifications, while the specs on Kontroniks website clearly states the max. If it does not suit your setup then buy something else that wil.

I'm not sure really but, I will more than likely get a 14s YGE/Yep and test it out myself WITH 4.35HV lipos. I don't want more weight so HV lipos is what I am after.

Vinger,

Kontronik seems to be interested in keeping their products at the top of the game so please don't just come on here act like a little fanboy and tell us to go some where else.. Hopefully they will get back to me soon and tell me they tested their esc and it works fine with the HV lipos or that they are going to come out with a firmware update to handle the HV lipos. Companies don't always know what the customer wants and needs so it is in our best interest to communicate these needs with them. Just cause their website states the max that doesn't mean it is set in stone..

I am a fanboy of Kontronik yes, with all the ups and downs we have with them. Best ESC out there by a huge margin. It just seems illogical to keep on debating the point on why it won't work and making Kontronik the scape goat here.

Products have specifications for a reason, in the Kosmik it is HARDWARE, not just a quick firmware change. So we can debate all we want, I HAVE tested it at voltages greater than specifications and low and behold it does not arm, does not go up in smoke either, just protecting it's own innards from us mere mortals trying to use a product outside of the manufacturers specification.

That sounds like firmware. I will wait to hear back from Kontronik.

Maybe just unsubscribe Vinger. We have established that you can read the specs

As for your hardware tests all you have achieved is testing the firmware. Which has a safety built in at the max voltage that kontronik tested there esc up to. I doubt they ran a destructive test to find out the absolute max then gave it a safety margin of 1 volt and labled it as a 14s esc.

No one is saying anything negative about Kontronik all that is happening is we are expressing that we would like to use the latest tech in batteries with this esc if possible. Kontronik wouldnt be testing if they didnt think it was possible. Lets see what they come up with.

Best be prepared Vingar that you may be wrong

Lots of people running 16s on there YGE. I checked the specs and guess what...... 14s.

But,
Esc's can be sent back to YGE and modified. Anything is possible if you ask the right questions.

Vinger is merely stating that the Kosmik will not do 4.35 LiPO at max cell count at the moment. I don't see how he can be wrong on that, since it's a fact. There is no fanboyism going on here.

Kontronik are known for not making anything half-assed and it may take some time for them to come out with an update, if they decide to do so.

So last night I asked for an update. See the response below. I will probably get a YGE 200HV esc, separate bec and a Xnova 50XX TAREQ instead of the 200kool/pyro 850C combo. Oh well...

"Dear Sir,

sorry but Thomas is out of Office. No the 14 S HV Packs are too much for the KOSMIK in time.

New e-mail from Kontronik this morning.

"Added to the last mail,

We are currently verifying, if the hardware components are able to cope with HV Lipos. If so, a software update would be a solution. Please understand, that we need some more time to assure reliable testing results.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen aus Rottenburg || With kind regards from Rottenburg

Just wanted to give a little update. Kontronik is working on a software update. I have since cancelled my order for the YGE esc and have ordered a Kosmik 200 cool. Kontronik support has been fantastic so far and is the main reason I have cancelled the sale of the other esc. Looking forward to getting this 770 in the air w/Kosmik controller on 4.35HV lipos!

I fly 12s Giant Power HV packs that are charge to 4.35v per cell. Fully charged this is 52v and there's no issue with any of my Kosmiks (160HV and 200HV). However, sometimes, I do get an error on my Jive 120 Pro saying the voltage is too high. I use a buffer pack so if I get the error I just wiggle the sticks when plugging in the main packs and then it initializes.
I have no experience with 14s setups so no advise there but I suspect it might be the same as the Jive Pro on 12s.

So has anyone got a answer from kontronik about the 4.35hv lipos setup as 14s on a Kosmik? I'm looking around for pack for a 800build and would like to get the Revo 7s 4400mah packs as cheaper than gens ace but not 100% if will work or not yet

Look at download descriptions, 4.9 and later support HV LiPo batteries.
