Default rx pack voltages

I bought my first larger size heli (raptor 50) used for $80. everything seems to be complete and in good working order. I've been a land based rc guy for a long time with a few small fp helis and multi rotors mixed in for fun. My question is can i use a higher voltage (2s-3s) pack for power to the electronics run through a castle creations bec set to the correct input voltage for the radio system? Im just looking for longer run times before having to recharge the rx batteries.

Thanks Slimjim8420

Yes as long as you have the correct voltage and amps for the servos and the heli balances with that size battery you are good to go.

That's what I do with all the big ones (helis and planks). No more worries about Rx packs as I've even ran 450 3S packs for Rx's. As long as the voltage, current and CG check out you are fine.

Depending on the servos you might just be able to run electronics off a LiFe pack and then forget about the bec. My TRex 700 has Align 610s on cyclic and a Futaba 251 with a regulator on the tail and I run straight LiFe pack. LiFe charge to 7.2V, but the drop almost immediately to about 6.6V, I've been running this way for about 2 years now. If you already have the LiPO rx packs and a good bec then that would be cheaper for you right now, set the bec output for the rated voltage for your electronics and have fun..
