Yep, I use the XT30 because I use that on my Oxy 2 also. Since I'm running both connectors (XT60 on my bigger helis) I just have my charger set up for two stations of each connector.

I flew mine for the first time in ages thanks to illness and then persistent windy weather. Today was nice and calm so good for a practice. I thought I'd take it easy but I found that natural instinct took over and I was straight back in the groove. Clearly RC heli flying is like riding a bike.

Default What did I do today?

I retired my 230. I bought myself a 470 for Christmas and have about 20 flights on it so the 230 is going up for sale.
It was a good heli to learn on but a little too small for my old eye to see. The 470 still scares the begeezes out of me but I'm making progress. I'm thinking about a 550 next.

Just FYI a B400 or 450X canopy will fit right on the 230S. It really helps with seeing it.

maybe not 230 specific but I use my DX6i on my simulator and one of the control pots has gone. I tried cleaning it but no go. Anyone know where I can buy just the pots?

Today I flew my 230 S V2 at a large public park that is popular for planes. Had the full body fuselage from MicroHeli on. Quite fun!

I charged four packs but only flew two because I crashed! I was showing a spectator how I don’t like using Blade’s Panic Recovery from inverted hover (he was also a heli guy), but right after rescuing I lost orientation because it was quite far away. Oops. 230 S is not meant to be THAT far away.

Initial inspection shows only a broken grip linkage. That’s it!! I have the servo saver mod on that thing, so all is good. Plastic blades on it still.

Did safe mode stop working? Losing orientation is what it's best used for?

I though I knew orientation, which was the problem. Was also close to the ground, so very little time to react.

I just picked one up. This is the first blade heli that i didn't have to do anything to . Programmed DX 9, bound heli, and it hovered hands off. Pretty stable in stability mode even with the wind gusting!! I am impressed.

Clocked in an hour of CCW reverse circuits today. Boring but has to be done.
Also swapped main gear for V2 just because I can.

I learnt CCW reverse upright circuits first and when I mastered them I thought CW circuits would be no problem but they still took quite a bit of learning to get smooth. I now do a couple of CCW and CW circuits back to back as it seems to help with control orientation. Keep up the good work.

Bought a new 1200mAh30C power pack for mine. This will be my winter and easy training pack for longer run times.

First time trying their packs:

Very happy with their AA NIMH cells.

Will let you know of my findings dozen of cycles later...

I was flying my 230 with the Rakonheli frame today and the tail bracket came loose on the frame so the tail boom went up into the rotors and the whole thing came down in a bit of a mess. The tail boom and tail rotor were toast and I also chipped a tooth in one of the servos, I guess when the tail boom hit the rotors. All that's fixed easily but the threads have stripped in the tail boom retaining clamp on the Rakon frame. I'm hoping if I email them spares will be available. I can't see frame spares on their site.

Most likely be pretty easy to tap up to the next larger thread size or possibly use nut and bolts.

I repaired and put the white skids back on the 255S. They are on with Velcro and one zip tie each side. I like them as they are wider and a bit lower than stock. That heli has been through hell and back but I love it.

Yes I bought some 2mm nuts and cap screws to hold the mount but I think I will have to make a new clamp maybe a bit more robust. There is going to be a small weight penalty but I am not pushing the limit of this thing.
ephit likes this.
