I have also bought the metal blade grips as the plastic ones are not well designed.
That's how it usually works..lol

Started out the day small and easy. I'll work my way up to the 700.

I'm starting to get more comfortable with my rolls and flips, so I'm starting to venture into inverted flight.

My fingers started to go stupid while upside down, so I flipped back over, but was too low and didn't have enough headspeed to save it. So after bending my boom back several times previously it finally broke at the base.

I have some microheli ones on the way to try out, but for now my heli gets to wear the pink tailboom of shame.

After losing sight of and then losing my 230s completely two years ago, my son just gave me my early fathers day present of a brandy new 230s V2!

I am so excited and happy I can barely hold my water!

I have a lot of catching up to do.

Default What didn't I do? This happened! 230FOXY

Threw everything out of my perfectly good V2, into an Oxy2 frame.

With the 230 mm blades, it was 33 grams more than the stock version. Now as it sits, I cut 1.5 inches off the tail and put 215mm blades on. It now weighs only 10 grams more than stock and I can run higher headspeed. The 1611 motor did not like the wide 230 blades and ran hot. The 1911 motor might have been a better option with different gearing. Flys great now. Just wanted to see if I could do it.

Surprised shortening boom didn't make the tail control too weak; not a strong tail to start with. Would help W/B though.

Ah! But I went with shorter 215 mm blades and higher head speed. Less torque so the 230S tail holds as well as it did before and I haven't tweeked the gain setting yet. One thing I came across today that has me worried though, is that I am having a heck of a time trying to set up the pitch. I have a lot more positive pitch than negative. I've never checked a 230S, so I don't know if it is set up that way in the AR636, but I will get around to it. For now it flies great but I don't think I'd recommend anybody wasting there time doing this mod.

Are you at zero pitch at midstick?

Yes! But I was thinking about it and another problem I have. Overall the total pitch is right, 22 degrees, but 16 up and 6 down. The other problem is my links are screwed way out to get the leveler in. Going to screw them back to factory settings and reset the servo center and try getting 11/11 degrees that way.

Sounds like you got it figured out.

Your -6/16 degrees pitch is with a regular -100/+100 pitch curve in your TX? Wow! That’s quite the asymmetry. Good thing you spotted it.

Now that I think of it, if you were at -6/+16 with a linear pitch curve, you wouldn’t be at 0 pitch at mid stick. Double check your pitch curve.

Set TX at zero pitch, then fold the blades forward toward the nose of heli. Blade tips will be close to touching if at zero.
