The grass grew tall and so I got adventurous with sticks jamming resulting in a metric ton of dumb thumbs at zero penalty over past few months. Then they cut the grass and I wrecked it a few times taking out main gear, blade grip, a link and the canopy. Finally after a year or two I could use my spares.

Today I went out at dusk again and flew my Night version. It is guaranteed to put a smile on my face. Totally awesome. Night version rules
2-3 weeks back flew at full moon. Love it

A few weeks ago I received a 230 V2 for fathers day, and of course the weather got wet and windy so I tried to get out and fly between the thunderstorms and the snow.

My goodness ladies and gentlemen, I am terribly rusty and it has become obvious my sight is getting worse.

I found a new place to fly where I have approximately twenty square acres void of trees so I won't lose sight and lose my heli again.

As soon as the weather settles down a bit, I will be able to get out any day I want to but for now, I have a little quad that I can fly around the apartment to help me work on orientation.

Soon, very soon.

you just need to enter "MHjuly4" as a promo-code and you will get a 30% discount. I ordered mine out of the Vietnam store

Finally figured out what the problem was. Found the answer on another post in the 230S thread. When checking your collective pitch, you either must disconnect the motors and take it out of HOLD mode or reset your HOLD pitch curve to 0,25,50,75,100. Failing that, you will only get false readings due to the funny HOLD mode pitch curve!

Took my 230 out today for the first time in about 5 weeks. I've been down with some kind of virus that has really sapped the energy from me. I find I need to be on top form to fly the heli otherwise it will end in a crash. Had three flights and everything went ok. I seemed to pick up where I left off so that's a good thing.

Took mine out tonite, put 3 more flights on it. Have the rates turned up to 115% on A/E. Flys great.

Note to all those who are trying to get a more responsive bird by "upping" the rates, me included. Looks like we are doing it wrong. Since "Airware Update 2.0", "Forward Programming" is available to increase (or decrease) rates. I'm not talking about gyro gains (PIDs), but actual degrees per second rates. Will have to update my transmitters for shure now!

Default Modding 270CFX grip links to fit the 230s

Today I got around to successfully modding the grip links made for the 270cfx which can be adjusted, into fitting the 230s All you have to do is lathe off a small amount of material (roughly .25mm) from cylindrical part of the link (stock grip diameter:2.89mm/stock 270cfx:3.14mm). You will also need to make sure you remove material evenly so that the links with be close if not identical in weight (mine were exactly .40g each). I used a standard drill (remove one side of the link at a time and chuck the threaded rod in the drill DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN) and 150 grit sandpaper to remove material and Plastx/microfiber to clean it up when done. Very easy upgrade IMO as it only took me about 30-45min from start to test flying. All seems well flight wise and I'm glad to be able to adjust the blade tracking on my huge 275mm lynx blades Posted a few project pics below:

Did you crash when it broke or manage to bring it down?

I hovered it inverted several times - didn't even crash Still need to work up the nerve to try this on the 360cfx (no rescue).

Thumbs up

Finally replaced the original tailboom on my V1 as it was starting to look like a pretzel.
Picked up a two pack of purple anodized knitting needles at micheals for 8 bucks CAD which is about 6 bucks USD.The wall is at least double the thickness of the stock boom so I shortened it by about 1/4in..Works great and looks pretty cool too

Just for something new. I added a New MH canopy and a $23 MH Delrin main gear. The canopy looks awesome...but it weighs a ton. I thought the Delrin gear would be smooth....but, it is not round, and it shakes like a mutha.
