Found another option. RotorStar. The ones I've had before seem pretty good, though sometimes needing balancing.

The same as you run on your X3.

I'd run 2 if at all possible. Peace of mind is priceless.

If you already have it, use it. But it's adding some weight and cost. Not a big deal since it's already a very light model.
What pinion are you running? What would reasonable max and min governed head speed be with your setup (assuming headroom for governor)?

I'm running a 23T which is over geared a bit since I'm running high headspeeds during test. I run a yge 90 at the moment in it and run it down to 2400 headspeed and it has worked well. So right now I'm flying from 2400-3500.

I would always run 2, it's not expensive, and if you run one sat all you need is a bad cable and your model is going in.

Two satellites is a much more reliable option.

is that 3500 a set HS or measured during triggered overspeeds ??
because if you run 3500 HS , I don't dear to think what the overspeeds are like ...
But I assume the brain 2 can log this , so What is the max registered overspeed HS you saw on your P380 ?

Unless you run magnets and hall sensor on the head (not main gear), you can't measure overspeed RPM. With today's RPM sensor on the motor phase, you can only read motor speed which doesn't go up on overspeed. That is unless you run no OWB like my P500.

lolz,

your absolutely right , since the owb disengages .... and rpm of the motor is measured on E helis.

I didn't think this through, because at the release of the MAX V2 OTS reported some measured overspeed RPM/ forces which made them change the preload washers to stronger ones , I wonder how they measured this.

While you can't log/measure overspeed RPM with FBL, you can measure it with shutter-style optical RPM reader, or an audio-type reader.

Anybody got any experience with the BK DS-3005 HV tail servo? I might go for that over the bigger, heavier DS-5005HV for the P380

Audio is the easiest way pull from a video. The Protos 380 does amazing overspeeds like the max. I haven't measured them yet but probably in excess of 4200 rpm or more.

I ordered one (out for delivery now ) for my p380 but I've never used one. Hopefully it's good.

I have used this servo on 3 helicopters and I love it. Actually worked better for me than the popular 95i.

That's the one. Gotta remember, when they made that motor (and marketed it) there was only one 380 sized heli in town.

Better make room, there's a new guy!!!!

Just ordered one from esprit. Already got my HW 60 sitting on the workbench. Servos, lipos, and of course the 380. I'll be good to go.
