Default Protos 380 build

Sorry, don't get too excited. I don't have a kit yet. But I did get my first shipment of parts. My Max V2 build thread was fun and helpful (to me at least and hopefully to others as well) so I'm doing one for the 380, too.

Cool in was thinking of doing one too. Only problem is my grammar and English skills suck. I can take pictures though. Lol. I did enjoy your max build so I will be looking forward to the 380 build

Well, I got one just in time then. I ordered it from helidirect on monday. That's my second batch of parts, which just shipped today.

Judging from the 380 setup thread, it may be hard to get some parts, especially that motor and the hobbywing 60.

This was supposed to be a budget build but I think the only thing I actually went cheap on was the KST 215 cyclic servos.

Yeah so far out of my usual vendors only hobbywing North American actually has the 60a in stock. I grabbed mine and one for a buddy last week. Didn't want to chance it. The 60a is sooooo much better than the 50 it's not even funny!!

Oh yeah, it came with some heli parts too.

I also picked up a battery checker. It's way faster and better than the little one I was using.

Not that I'm trying to tell you how to spend your money, but it would have been wise just pick up the HobbyWing LCD Prog box instead. It functions as a battery checker, but also gives you an interface so that you will be able to program your HobbyWing ESC with the computer GUI software, or even directly on the prog box. It may be $26, but it pulls triple duty.

I already have one I didn't know it worked as a battery checker though.

Perfect! Now at least you know, you don't have to carry both, lol.

The capacity controller is quicker though, no need to wait for the program box to boot up.

Not only that but it gives you an actual percentage charged, and it will show you the percentage that each cell is balanced after highlighting the two cells most out of balance. Unless you're changing ESC settings every time you're at the field, the capacity checker has more practical functions for daily use.

Also, the programing box is not very accurate. When checking my batteries, my icharger tells a different story

Where did you get this? Mine is outdated and only tells me cell voltages. Thx.

I got it from helidirect. There was also a Pulse branded one that I'm pretty sure was the exact same thing.

Also, it only checks voltages as far as I can tell. I don't think "capacity checker" is quite accurate but whatever. It does what I need it to do.
