I have 2500, 2750 & 3000 set up, but I reckon you’re right, I could easily drop them all by a couple hundred

I think 2750 is more of an average head speed from all the posts I have read of peoples set ups. I run 2400-2750-2950. Some are even running more just for fun. But this bird really excells at lower head speeds. So much fun and a good learning tool.

Agreed Michael, I’ve been tuning/flying 2400 & 2750 so far, 3000 is mental lol

Was flying the 380 at lunch and this guy comes out flying a foamy trainer airplane.

One flight he lands downwind about 2 feet behind me barely missing me at speed. So This guy clearly isn't sure what to do. I asked why he was landing downwind (not saying you almost hit me ya Dick) and he says 'it depends on what your trying to do'- really?

Then, I am flying again just working on some stuff he goes up again, with one eye on this guy, I figure I should stand behind my car to block it should he end up flying into my car. So what happens- he flies in at a 45 degree angle right at me! Fortunately it was at about 2 feet off the ground at this point and I kick it to defend myself..!! ( good thing I was wearing pants so the prop didn't cut me) Then I have to find my 380 in the air- of course I forgot it was inverted, flip it over and bring it back and land... WTF?

I guess I've been spoiled flying here alone at lunch for so many years.

Default Maidened today

What a great build and a fantastic Heli! Got the maiden in today, Just needed to back off the main gain a few points, and adjust the I gain on the mini brain, that took all of 2 packs, and it was like flying an old friend. Flies much bigger than it's physical size, and is sooo smooth, it got comments on how it sounded. Running, 14*@ 2400, 13*@ 2700, and 12*@3000. It's a blast on all rpm's and is virtually silent at 2400.
Great Heli

Well, it was actually yesterday. By looking at the forecast and other commitments between now and the end of the year, I got my last flights of the year in.

I had a great day all by myself on a sunny (no wind, 8C degree) day. I got 8 flights in (4 Protos and 4 Logo 550) for a total of 589 flights for the year.
A grand total of 525 flights now on the Protos (335 this year and 190 last year) and 227 on the Logo plus 27 on the Scale 429. A total 4 crashes at the beginning of the year on the Protos, so 4 crashes on that Protos out of the 525 flights it's had (flight count does not include crashes). A fairly good year I would say. Feeling proud.

That Protos 380 is one fantastic little Heli! To me, nothing else in its size category comes close.

Beautiful flying weather today, working from home so managed a cheeky 10 packs at the field.

Flying this heli just gets better and better, and I've found that the recent purchase of AccuRC has really really helped as the models I'm flying in the SIM, and the physics of the SIM itself, are really close to reality.

What a machine, the confidence it inspires in me as a (relatively inexperienced) pilot is so satisfying, it's addictive! I need to get me a field charging setup lol

Awesome thread gentlemen. My red Protos 380 kit and servos landed today. Motor should be here tomorrow and I have the HW 60a waiting. Hopefully get to start digging into it tomorrow.

Any common issues with the build?

Cheers!

Congrats! I really enjoyed my build, which went really smooth considering it was my first full kit purchase/build. Mind you, I had stacks of resources from those before me on here - there’s a couple of really useful build threads in this forum in case you hadn’t already found them.

The manual is excellent in any case, you’ll love it, what other kit are you putting into yours?

Kind of the standard setup...Xnova 890kv, HW 60a v4, BK3001 cyclic servos, HST DX565x tail servo, Switch 383 blades and Gens Ace 6s 1800mah 60c lipos. I use a Horus X10S with an x4r for control. Sound be a solid setup!

My kit was missing the main blade grip bearings so I'm just waiting on those to finish it.

Nice! I’m flying Rotortech blades at the moment, which I really like, but I’m going to try a set of the Switch blades in a couple of months.

Hope the remaining bits turn up soon!

Love the switch sound. Like an airplane jet sound in dives and ff, but not as much bark on other moves.

Flew a couple of packs today, fingers went too numb so came back. Tested my Brain AR bailout that I set up on my bank #3 - took about 2 seconds to start rapidly spooling once I turned off TH again, what a rush lol. Current spiked at 41A only, will increase the ramp up and try again next time I’m out.

Certainly seemed plenty “floaty” when I hit TH though, I think I’m going to enjoy practising ARs!

Not the best day for flying but logged two flights each on the P380 and P420. I`m leaning more towards liking the P420 than the P380 at the moment. I made some tweaks to the Brain on the P380 this afternoon but will be awhile before I fly it again.
