Default Canopy repair

A thin fiberglass reinforced clear tape works wonders. Light and strong, and the result looks OK.

Remember to CA around the canopy grommets on the inside before use, otherwise they easily fall out.

Btw the K110 canopies are out of stock on Banggood, but the K120 ones are in stock - so rather order those at the moment.
Edit: Don't! They are of different shape AND the location of the mounting holes are different.

Default You will need spare main shafts

I honestly didn't think they'd be possible to bend... but they sure do bend. So make sure you have a spare or two.

Really? Someone on here said it fits. The K100 only has two grommet holes judging by pics online, but I'll order one and test. Plus the V977 which apparently is a direct fit AND has 4x grommets though the pics on Banggood show the old model with 2x.

Only the early V977 canopy had 2 holes. The current ones have 4 holes and are identical to the K110, I have used one on a K110 before with no modifications. They are also $2 cheaper.

Also the K120 canopy may look bigger, but if you have both take them off the helis and you will see the K120 will fit inside the K110 canopy perfectly, just like stacking Russian dolls. But the mounting holes are in a different location and it has the bottom cutout.I think it only looks bigger because of the mounting angle and taller skids on the K120. It's mounted with the nose pointing higher on the K120.

All of Banggood's V977 pictures that I looked at are of the old model. It only had 2 canopy grommets and the collective pitch range was not adjustable either. I don't think there are many of them out there.

I bought a replacement canopy from Banggood a few months ago and it was the new 4 hole canopy.

Is the V977 canopy any stronger than the K110?

The XK one does tear quite easily. Not bad at all, but also not super durable.

I have very good experience with the Hisky HCP80 canopies for the Blade Nano, they are a lot stronger than the stock ones.

There's not by any chance a Hisky canopy that might fit?

I've tested divers Nano, nCPX and 120SR canopies - but no good fit. The Lynx mCPX BL canopy might fit with some trimming, but not great I think.

The strongest canopies I've ever had for micros are the ones from Team Extreme (all other "upgrades" I've bought from them were crap though) - they must be made from proper lexan I think - and just last forever. If we could find a fitting one there...

The V977 canopy is the same strength as the K110. I'm pretty sure WL owns XK or at least manufactures the XKs for them. The canopies are identical and probably made in the same factory, but just with different graphics.

Btw BB I see you're using zip-ties for tail fins.

Did you ever try these? (I have them on order)

That's the aluminum tail motor mount I use. I also bought those carbon fiber tail fins but they broke too easily. I still have some new in the bag in my parts bin that I decided not to mount. Somebody told me to use zip ties instead of tail fins and they work great for keeping the tail rotor off the ground and preventing damage.

The tail motor mount is a little hard to install the first time, but really stays in place on the boom. That's because the screws actually need to have two small grooves in the tail boom in order to screw them in. You can't even press the mount onto the boom when the screws are in place. I just take the screws out, press the mount on the boom then push a tiny drill bit in a pin vise thru the holes to start the two grooves on the bottom of the boom (insert drill bit into non threaded side). Then I pull it off and use a tiny round file to make the grooves a little deeper and all the way across the boom. Then put it back on and the screws go right in and can't slide down the boom because they are in the grooves. It works much better than they type that just rely on clamping force, and you really don't even need to tighten it extremely tight like the other ones.

Default Alu upgrades?

BB, you seem to have a Dr's degree on these birds - what would you say about the alu upgrades for swash, grips, and head?

I think I have crashed these more than anybody else is why I know them so well! lol

I've never tried aluminum swash or head because the stock plastic seems to work pretty good and absorbs crash damage. I only upgrade those parts on helis that have sloppy parts or break the plastic ones a lot. I haven't heard the results from people who have upgraded. I would think the bling factor would be the only major reason to upgrade, but I could be wrong.
