Default Protos Max Tri-Blade

For the 3 blade fans out there. Below is the third flight on a prototype of this head.

MSH has their own view on how dampening on a 3 blade head should work and it's very very impressive in flight.

The heli has a very different sound to it. It's crazy locked in while also very agile. It's pretty cool!

There will also be a 3 blade tail option.

Very cool. It looks awesome, and I love my 700 KSE, but I also love my Protos the way it is, so this may have to be Protos No 2

Seems like a 3-bld tail would fix some issues we seem to be having currently for 2-bld head.. or low HS with larger blades I should say..any plans for 3-bld tail soon??

Yes, there is a 3 blade tail in development. Which for sure is ideal for ultra low headspeed setups. But also great for insanity mode on the 3 blade setup.

Looks nice. What size main blades were they Alex?

I have played with the 3 blade head on my Goblins and while they do have some nice flight attributes I am waiting for the 3 blade tail more.

Yup, three blade tail is a bunch more interesting than the head. Nothing but positives there.

BTW NTM, just wanted to say you were right, the HK5035 in the Max as a low headspeed 800 is a great setup. I swapped out the Pyro 800 and put the big Scorpoin motor in and it's working great. And to link it back to the 3 blade tail setup, this will make the Max V2 by far the best 800 platform available. It's close now but having the 3 blade tail will give that final polish for the lower headspeeds.

Is the upgrade going to be a full new head or just the needed parts to make it a 3 bladed head? Personally I want it to just be another blade grip and other parts to keep the cost low.

They were 690 blades. The heli feels lightly loaded and buzzes around quite nicely. :-) Will take some time to adjust and tune before I am just flying it. But it's quite awesome already.

Noted. Nothing determined or announced yet. Usually though things are sold as a matched set with a full head and swash. But then there are spares for those parts.

Yep, I though that they were a bit shorter, the 3 x 690's probably feel like 2 x 730's at the same headspeed. I had to do a lot of playing with the setup when I went 3 blade, in my case it was with the Vbar, but I got it to where I was happy in the end. I ended up using a higher set point for cyclic (10 degrees instead of 8) and using some negative paddle sim and lower overall pitch. But some of that was because it was an F3C setup using heavy blades.

Mine are optimized for 3 blade. So extremely agile.

Overall it has more gyroscopic effect (core stability) coupled with a lot more cyclic power. It's a strange combination. But lends itself to a different style of flying.
