Building my first Protos. Definitely digging it. Got used so going through every inch and did a full strip down. New belts installed and swapped out a handful of screws so far.

WDIDWMPMT?

I MAIDENED IT. Flew great, special thanx to Rex! That dude has been such a great help to me and he walked me over my setup on the phone yesterday evening to be sure I didn't throw it in the dirt immediately, which I would have. A few changes in the NEO and this thing flew great. Now need to fine tune it.

I just saw the new tailbox and cf boom are available so I ordered those (and required servo related parts) this morning.

Those were the last things I've been waiting on to complete a little overhaul of my Max. I've had a Brain2, Spektrum 4649T, leggero frames, new belt, and new pinion all sitting here for a few months, just waiting on new tail stuff so I can do all the upgrades at once.

MSH USA has some fast shipping for sure. Guess I should say what I'm doing with my 700 - messing with the new Brain2 firmware and waiting for my new tailbox & CF boom to arrive. Plus working.

Spent some time tuning the setup and governor today. Paid off well and I'm starting to feel more confident with it now.

wow out for delivery already now. Did I accidentally choose overnight weekend shipping?

And I am in Indiana, not exactly next door to California.

My Max upgrade is finally complete. Leggero side frames to replace the ones I messed up, 19t pinion (replaced an 18t), new carbon boom, new tail case, Brain2, Spektrum 4649T.

I'm pretty sure it's more upgrade parts than original at this point.

2 Sats plus the SPM4649? I'm running just one Sat with the SPM4649. Other than being safe than sorry, is that needed?

It's probably overkill, but I already had 2 sats anyway.

Successful re-maiden today. My first time since last October flying anything bigger than my 230s. It flies nice Telemetry and integration worked great.

Started out with a worry though as when I first tried to spool up it would start slow for a second then try to spool up extremely fast, kicking the tail really hard (much worse than the normal hobbywing tail kick we are familiar with) and then die down like the battery went dead. Turned out I had not properly set "Pulses for rotation" in gov settings. I set that and then everything worked fine. It's odd though because I had bench tested a couple days ago when I set min and max throttle and checked my 3 rpm settings and it seemed to work fine then. :

Bench testing without main blades I assume. Without mains system can act very different.

Yep. The governor is expecting a minimum amount of drag to be present always.

well I ordered a set of white skids to try.

...and um also a set of BK coreless servos to try. I may have a problem.

This heli is like a project race car garage queen. I only fly it like 1-2 times a month (and not very well haha) but I can't stop doing things to it.

I think the head/swash, tail fin, inner frame parts (bearing blocks, motor mount, etc), and a few tail pieces are the only original parts left.

I think a black head/swash would be cool to match the new black tail box.

At least you fly it. My rich buddy has 3 sports cars he never drives. They sit covered in his garage on lifts in his non lake house. I won't get into his boat habit at his lake house. Who has a lake house 7 mins from main house anyway?

Nice when you work for one of the big three right under the ceo. Well his wife anyway. He doesn't work.

And you know what... He's the most miserable sob I know. Weird. He struggles a bit with his wife's success and his... well.

Money doesn't buy happiness, but sure can make some aspects of life easier.

yeah that sucks. I'm single, not very sociable, have a good job I like and am (usually) smart with money so I can blow much of my disposable income on silly things like rc helis and not feel bad about it.

Even if I don't fly it much, I still think it's a really cool machine and just a neat thing to have. Also it was my first kit build and first 700 so it has sentimental value too. I don't think I will ever sell it.

Nearly 6 months later , finally remaidened my leggero I ditched on its maiden.
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...29#post7479271

Didn't fly anything since that crash. lots of stress. I didn't powered it up with blades. (I'm done doing maidens in the garden )
@ the field , I installed even of my tail blades even backwards.
Guy's at the field at least tried to relax me -or boost my confidence- by doing an extra pre flight ( everything was fine )

After an hour I charged the lipo's at the field just to buy me some extra time ,
I even forgot my jeti harnas a home , somebody lend me their lanyard.
hovered it in 'normal' thr and normal throttle curve with a -3, 0 ,12% without canopy. Gave it some throttle let it get to 1750 , popped it a bit more and it just 'hanged' there. No wobble no nothing
Night and day with low rpm the original maiden. landed.

Ran for my canopy. Flipped to my setup 2 which ran the gov flipped to idleup 2 with a 1950 rpm and a -12 , 0 , 12 pitch curve.
Pitched up and it just hanged there again.
Some pitch pumps and tail was 'ok'
Tail was not perfect but good enough for a first maiden, it danced maybe 5 cm with full pitch pumps.
piroed left , piroed right. all nice and flat
went 15 meter high ,
did a piroflip ( a very clean one, I must say ) immediately hovered it back and landed it.
Very crisp very controlled. Called it a day. lipo was at 75%

It might not look like much but it was the perfect 2 a 3 min flight , I needed.

Next up , get my X5 flying again, I guess 1 or 2 field days with the X5 should get my nerves under control again.
Then maiden my evo 770. And fly this 700 like it should be.
