Default head speed drop suddenly

hi! i have problem for belt cp thro curve setting, using futaba 6ex 2.4g, my setting for pitch curve (-2,-1,0,5,10 normal mode).(-10,-5,0,5,10 idle up).thro curve (0,20,40,60,80 normal mode).(100,70,50,70,100 idle up).just start hover my heli less than 1minute & i feel my heli suddenly powerdrop(about 20%-30%drop).first suspect my battery(3s1p 11.1v 2200mAH)problem,but the original come with beltcp battery(11.1v 1800mAH)also same problem !!!. I think your ESC is overheating and shutting down... try getting an external BEC to power up your receiver and servos and that should fix your problem.

Hi, hope you don't mind me saying, but you are running a low rpm and requiring a lot of pitch to lift [in NORM]. In other words, you are creating a load of blade drag, and the copter will handle very sloppily, having very little spare blade angle to play with. Better to have high rpm and low pitch angle of blades - more stable. I am no ace in this and will gladly swallow a large portion of humble pie, but I have spent around a week or two playing with these settings, taking advice from the true ACES on this forum, and the high rpm throttle settings is def the way to go

Mike

Ps my settings in NORM are
Throttle 0,35,70,85,100
Pitch 45,50,55,75,100
= I lift at about 77%rpm and only 1 degree of pitch!!

low rpm with high pitch is VERY inefficient, its best to run a higher headspeed with lower pitch.

Also this draws alot of amps from the battery that way and causes the ESC to overheat... Putting on a BEC will not solve overheating problems.... recheck your pitch settings and that everything is running smoothly on the heli itself (also belt tightness and gear mesh) All those contribute to high amp draw causing overheating of the ESC.

Did you devise those curves or did someone else reccomend them?

I agree with Wolfie and Mike, and a BEC will help with efficiency too.

Also do you lubricate your heli?

Ian

Your welcome!!
Even if you fly with low RPM, your ESC should hold... but for some reason it doesn´t. Check everything is lubricated and not too tight.
Powering up your receiver and servos produces heat in your ESC, so if you use an external BEC to take care of them, your ESC will work better and cooler, only providing juice to the motor and should hold even if you fly with low RPM.
