Wonder how the 477's would do on a 500 class.
Bill, my XL520 is 2.6kg all up, do you think they'd do well at 2400ish head speed?

I haven’t tried, but that wouldn’t be ideal. Inalready noticed a big difference between 500 (sab) and 516mm (rails). Going to 477 would be a big jump.
517 vtx would be great!

I don't know where to post this but...received 697's and they won't fit in my metal blade grips.
One fits very tight, other one won't.
Roots are 12.2mm and 12.4mm
Had to sand washers to fit them into the grips(and that's a pain in ...).
I had several brands of blades(RT,Switch,Align,Tarot, blades from HK) and never had that problem.
Very disappointed cause they expensivest blades i ever had.
Does anybody had same issue?

Hi everyone - I'm trying to determine the amount of deflection with VTX717's one would measure during a 3D flight. I'm trying to make sure I have plenty of clearance between the main blades and tail blades on my Goblin 700 Comp. Any ideas?

Measure the distance from the tail grip to the main grip bolts when clocked as close as possible. It should add up to more than your blades add up to.

As far as I understand it to be.

Has anyone ever had a main/tail blade strike on a Goblin 700? I remember hearing about boom strikes AGES ago on Goblins but I never really bothered to look into why that was happening.

I've heard about tail strikes with the 700 competition and rail 716 blades. But i've also read some stories where people have no problems. I guess it depends on your flying style

According to my measurements, I would need to see a main blade deflection of 105mm for a tail blade strike. How feasible would this be using VTX blades? They appear to be fairly stiff.

i just tested it, and i get ~5cm deflection with only little force (logo 700). 10 cm would certainly be possible under heavy load i would say. But there has to be someone with experience with this combination

Having fun and went a little crazy with the math/simulation. Main blades deflecting in an arc yields approx 125mm before tail strike. Thats almost 5". Many assumptions still in the model..e.g, end loading the cantilever beam and the beam has a uniform cross section, tail blade in same plane as main shaft, etc.

Should be fine. A little heavier than what the 477 was designed to support (design weight of ~ 2.2kg) but still the 477 blade has enough area to handle 2.6kg I think. Especially if you have more power than what a stock Logo480 has. Give it a try and let us know...

Cheers,
Bill.

Thanks Bill,
I've been thinking on this a bit more and realize if I run my 3800 pack I can drop ~150g which gets me a lil closer.

Power wise it is running 4020 so lot's of HP for a 480 class

Another thought was quit the opposite.... run 557 and get a lower Kv motor to shoot for 1600-1900rpm

How goes with the 507, 517 or such in between 477 and 557?

I think we heard about a 507 in the works quite a while ago....

I'm still hoping for some 607s or 617s and some bigger blades like 807s.

607's are through final aero design as of last week. The blade is now being modeled up for production tooling.

We'll get prototypes done first, then a flight test program, then ramp-up to first lot. Oh, and don't forget we have Chinese New Year in there somewhere.

I wasn't going to say anything quite yet but since you asked...
