thx Bill... that's real great news. my Logo 600 is the only bird not on THX blades today... they simply perfectly fit my flying preferences. so i am looking forward for the next spring/summer season to have a consistent fleet

... and a happy new year to you and your family!

Has anyone noticed that there RC Logger digital pitch gauge's blade mounting frame does not slide over the VTX 697 blade's thickest point without forcing it?
The chord is fine - it still fits.

So... I need a new pitch gauge.
What gauge fits over the thickest point on the 697 or 717?

I have the digital align gauge. It doesn't go on all the way, but i can slide it on ~5inches, about 0.5inch before the widest part of the blade. Plenty to get the setup done reliably
VTX717 btw

I like to slide the gauge down closer to the root.
That way I think the lead / lag that I missed in aligning the blades doesn't cause as much of an error in the reading.

The SkyRC digital pitch gauge is out of stock at Rotor Quest.
It looks like it would do the trick.
But, is the digital display removable from the blade-clamp?

And, I found it on Buddy RC.
The stinker is that I just received an order from Buddy RC on Saturday - if I had known, I could have ordered with the rest of that stuff.

The only time I use a pitch gauge is during a setup, and unless the VTX blades sit at an angle of attack with respect to the center of the LE and TE at the root, they should be the same pitch as any standard blade.

I just have about a 6 inch long remnant of a blade that I insert into the grips that the pitch gauge fits over and I use it for setups.

I was just thinking I should do the same but I'm not sure if I actually have any remnants to use for such a purpose.

I use the Soko solution to get a level swash and setup the head now, much better solution for 550 size helis and up. Doesn't require blades and haven't had to adjust tracking on a single machine since using it.

After reading most of this thread, i'm interested in these blades, but don't see them in 600mm, 610mm or 620mm. Do they plan on making these sizes?

I only need it for initial setup or rebuild.
And, I used to use my old 690 blades for that.
Then I sold all of them (about 5 sets) on eBay (there is still one set of Zeal 710 on eBay. I just say that in case you know anyone that hasn't started using VTX yet).

And, I don't keep the stubs or parts from crashes anymore. It was just... morbid.
Besides, they have CF shards that are really painful if they get under the skin.
And, I'd need two of them (one per side to 0 the blades without having to swap side to side).

The Soko Toolkt and app is, just... well Soko.
Not worth the time and effort on FBL.
I sold that too. I'm sure the new owner loves it.

The "easy fix" is a pitch gauge that will accommodate the thicker VTX blades.

Try your pitch gauge on blade grip alone, without any blade mounted.
Probably mount up snug and square and give reliable readings

Refer to Bill's post below. I have been talking to Bill a lot lately, and I can tell you that I have started gathering bits and pieces to be able to convert my 550 to a 600 rather soon.

We'll get prototypes done first, then a flight test program, then ramp-up to first lot. Oh, and don't forget we have Chinese New Year in there somewhere.

I wasn't going to say anything quite yet but since you asked...

My very favorite digital pitch gauge is RC Logger 2, but I do not use the blade holder attachment. I attach the pitch gauge directly to the blade grips using the thick white rubber band that came with the RC Logger 2. I also use the Soko app but prefer the light weight RC Logger 2 (with 3 second delay zero button) better than the heavy Soko pitch gauge. I use the blue Soko tool for helicopters with round blade grips without flat spot to rest the pitch gauge.

No need to purchase a new pitch gauge.

Using a rubber band to hold the angle gauge to the grips is an idea I had not heard of before.

Rc logger has a built in magnet that sticks to the blade bolts too. No need for blades.
