The differences are small. These days, I largely choose blades based on past experience with balance.

Come on. Where is the fun in avoiding controversy and drama? If you've got an opinion lets hear it. I'll start. I've never had a set of RotorTech, Align, MAH, or SAB tail blades I didn't like. Radix and Edge blades are often good but I've had a few sets I've stopped using because they didn't run as smooth as I'd like. I've never had a set of V-Blade T/R blades that were drilled properly or balanced.

I'll have a set of 105(ish) VTX tail blades when they become available. They would pair nicely with the set of VTX 697 mains I have sitting here.

VTX 607 - They are here, the first three prototype sets of VTX Designsí latest work of art, designed by Bill Wightman, freshly manufactured by Fun-Key! The VTX 607 utilizes the proven VTX6235 airfoil from the VTX 557, packed into a completely new planform, designed from scratch for 600 size helicopters.

Extensive flight testing of the VTX 607 will be carried out on the LOGO 600 SX across the whole RPM spectrum, ensuring the blade properly extends the VTX lineup in terms of performance and feel. Stay tuned for flight videos!

The question now is: Which set will it be, A, B or C?

I'm excited. I hope one of the three sets is perfect and they can go into production.

VTX 607 flight testing is underway! Here's a video from today, flying the blades at 1500 and 2100RPM on the LOGO 600 SX. So far so good, flying on!

Really nice flying!!!
When you testing blades what are you looking for?
, Also when you testing do you have to adjust the FBL control or you try to keep everything the same to get a better feel between them all?

Well, generally I test for whatever the blade in question was designed to do. In this case, the VTX 607 is supposed to extend the VTX lineup in terms of performance and feel- so I fly them in comparison to VTX blades of other sizes, make sure they feel about the same, make sure they approximately hit Bill's performance calculations and check that they handle well over a broad RPM spectrum.

I do not change my FBL setup for testing different prototypes of a blade. Usually I don't even change my setup when switching to the new blade brand/type, so I can compare blades across brands. I have a VBar setup I know I generally like, the biggest change I make if needed is adjusting the optimizer.
Number and racer-g like this.

New video of the VTX 607s, this time exploring the low RPM envelope, running off a single 6S pack. The blades so far seem to habdle low RPM very well, giving off a clean sound signature and holding the flow attached over a wide AOA range. Testing on...

Just wanted to pop in here and say how much I love my VTX 717s. Super smooth or ballistic. Amazing blades... Turn the sound up and listen to them bark.

Very nice flying and I'm glad you like the blades.

On another note... Is that your typical flight time? It looked like about a minute 20 or so of raging, another 40 seconds of cruising and at 2:10 it was time for an auto. I don't do big electric helis and I can't fly as hard as you do. Is that typical? At times it sounded a little "boggy". Have you tried the 697s? I would interested to know how the shorter blades performed and it they provided better flight time.

Thank you! Yeah my typical flight time has been steadily decreasing the more I progress. The packs are getting a little worn now but still in good shape. If they were brand new maybe 20-30 seconds more and no bogging at all. It was also very cold so the packs don't really like that either and I was trying to get a feel for the power cause I hadn't flown in 2 months so I was doing big power pulls to get ready for a smack session after. I've never tried the shorter blades. I like the 717s as they are super smooth at 1700-1900 or crazy at the high headspeed. At 1700 I typically get 5 1/2 minutes and up to 7 if I don't smack it and very smooth on sticks. This is a typical 1700hs flight for me. At 1700 they can do anything you can think of while being smooth and efficient.
