Default Brain + SPM4649T

Hi guys,

what do you think about this combination?

Brain + SPM 4648T quadrocopter reciever.

http://www.horizonhobby.com/product/...ry--p-spm4649t

That means we could build a very clean helicopter
with full range receiver, dual antenna with integrated
Telemetrie for below 50,-€.
The single component would replace
a big stupid TM1000 + 2 Satellites and a lot of wireing.

Cheers
Marco

Looked at the manual as I am interested in the answer too.

Doesn't seem to have Temperature, which is one of the main reasons I use the TM1000 for.

I should have one waiting for me at the house when I get back into town tomorrow, will let you know if I can get it to work as is. Right now an AR7700 needs to use the remote receiver output on the receiver to a satellite port on the Brain.
Hope MSH gets the Spektrum serial protocol up and running soon, the 4649T looks very interesting for us Spektrum users.

Just finished playing around with my 4649T just to see if it would communicate. Bound to my transmitter and then plugged it up to a satellite port on the Brain and supplied power to the 4649T from the servo bus and it worked.

I may play with it a little more this weekend to see if I can get any telemetry to show up on the DX18.

Any comments from the Brain developers? I think that would be better than try&error 😉

Alex has already said that Spektrum serial protocol with Brain is on the development list and would be out late this year, but that was a few months ago. Look for Spektrum serial port integration sometime next year since Jeti is the current development priority. Hope telemetry communication from the Brain is part of the development with the introduction of the 4649T.

Have the new Spektrum SPM 4649T installed and set up on my Outrage 550. Planning on doing a range test tomorrow, maybe get out to the field on Friday for some flight time and give it a good shake down.

Made a custom lead to the receiver that split to the power/ground wire for one of the BEC Pro outputs that I added a Y-harness to and run the signal wire to one of the sat ports using a micro Brain to JR servo adapter.

@OnTheSnap: Is integration of the SPM4649T planned or is it not on the to-do-list by now?

OTS has been hinting at a late December release of something awesome that eliminates all the Spektrum "stuff" for telemetry.

I have this receiver installed on my Goblin 380, replacing 2 regular satellites with just one. Flies as normal as before.

Update: see post #16

But you don't get the power from the satellite port, do you? And do you get telemetry with it?

Yes on power. No on telemetry. That requires an additional device, such as the TM1000.

Update: see post #16

Here is how I connected up my SPM 4649T.

OTS has Spektrum SRXL protocol coming in the near future, hopefully the hinted at late December firmware release. This I hope will enable telemetry without all the extra stuff now needed.

From OTS - We have spektrum srxl support coming to a future release also.

Correction to my previous posts. I didn't ready correctly, but I was talking about the SPM4648, non-telemetry quad-racer diversity sat receiver.

https://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/...ProdID=SPM4648

Sorry for the confusion guys!

I asked this question via the Spektrum RC website and got this reply this morning. (see picture attached)

There's another member on here using the SPM4648 with the ikon with no issues.

I think I would treat the SPM 4648 like a single satellite installation and use it on a 380, but nothing bigger. On the multi racing forums there seems to be some issues with the 4648 at low level/obstacles but performs fine in open air so I would think a heli would be a better fit. Installation position and eliminating shadowing is most important IMO.

Would have been nice if the reply from Spektrum include the reason why, kind of useless information otherwise.

Hi,

but this post is related to Brain + SPM4649T
not 4648. So if you want to discuss this please open a new
Thread 😃.

Hopefully the December will bring a full Telemetrie option 😃👏👍.

Cheers
Marco

Partially true.
The opening/first post referring to 4648T
