Default question re securing main shaft bearings

should the main shaft bearings be secured with locktite?

in my kit (11/2016 batch) the lower bearing in the frame central plate is a loose fit. the upper two in the servo frames are press fit.

thanks for any advice.

Yes please use retaining compound on the bearing that goes into the metal frame.

A loose fit on a bearing is never good, so I would add some, but don't over do it.

I used blue Loctite, 243 for the main bearings on my Protos 380 yesterday. I've only done short test flights since then. Should I disassemble it, clean and use retaining compound?

Short answer yes. The blue isn't very good at filling gaps and not good on smooth metal finishes. The retaining compound is a great deal better suited for the job. Wipe Clean surfaces of blue add green n go. And just a drop on 2 or 3 outsides. U don't want it getting in the bearing. A tiny drop on the shaft to inside race n ur good to go.

Thanks for the advice! I was pretty sure that was going to be the answer but it's enough of a pita I thought I'd check. There's still enough time tonight to get the right stuff on so it can set up over night. Tomorrow I'll reassemble, SOKO, and finish some other maintenance. The next dry window for a flight isn't until Thursday.
