Ok thanks so in order to build this kit I need to order the engine from Japan? Seems like a big inconvenience I wish Gaui would support an engine that I could get locally

Well the other option is to buy the stretched kit
Here

http://www.gaui.com.tw/product/nx4-s...x4-kit50-type/

And then you can buy the OS 50 sx-h or os 55 hz-h in quite a few places. I get my nitro stuff from tower hobby since they are close by and it comes in a day or 2

yup, 50 size kit is a good way to go. you can also buy the standard (37) size kit and buy the upgrade to 50 parts later on. I might do this, I'm happy with my 37 size kit and my os37 for now, but if i destroy the motor at some point i will struggle to get a new one locally, then i'll upgrade to 50/55 size!

Ok I think I might go that way, what do you figure the whole setup would cost approx 1K?

Well that all depends on what your going with for electronics, I expect it will be a bit more then 1k

You need
3 mini cyclic servos
1 mini throttle servo
1 mini tail servo
FBL
RX
Starter

For kit:
OS50 229$
Pipe 100$
Kit 499$
= 828$

For electronics:
I'm running
3 RC OMG cyclic and 1 tail (around 300 or so)
1 align throttle servo. 50$
IKon2 HD 200$
Futaba RX 40$
Sab 500 main blades 66
Switch glow pro 40$(I hate glow starters)

=656

1484$ retail, keep an eye out for sales, Black Friday is just around the corner.

There have been a few NX4s in the classifieds. So that's another option

I actually got mine in trade so I saved quite a bit on the cost, even with buying a new swash, starter shaft and some hardware. I made out pretty good. I had never heard if RC OMG but they seem to be very good servos.

I recommend going High voltage so you can eliminate the BEC, there isn't a ton of room on this bird.

Yeah price depends a lot on what you put on it and what you find on sale. I think mine totaled around 1200-1300 for everything except nitro accessories or fuel. It's hard to add up since I bought from several places over 3-4 months.

I got the basic kit on sale for only $428 including shipping.
OS37 ($175)
Gaui muffler ($63)
old aluminum case iKon that I got on sale ($120)
b-stock Halo 450mm main blades (~$45)
KST servos ($226)
pulse 2550 rx pack ($16)
Switch glow pro ($40)
2 Spektrum dsmx sats ($70)
plus various other bits and pieces like fuel tubing, align gov sensor, header tank, and probably some other little things I can't remember. And a few upgrades. I'd recommend getting the metal fan ($25). The magnets can sometimes fly out of the plastic one.

And on top of all that of course you have to add a starter, pump, and nitro. I got the align starter on sale for $75 (was a scratch-n-dent special). cheap little hand pump ($18), and 4 gallons of Rotor Rage 30% ($126 + expensive hazmat shipping)

you can do very well on a used one too. i have just under $800 in mine and it has halo 450, ikon 1 flight controller, savox metal gear servos, gaui t10 engine and it is restored to pristine save the green gaui x4-II canopy in lieu of the standard red nx4 one
