Default RotorTech 385 Ultimate - Small Blade, Big Performance

Heyho Helifreak,

It’s time to show you what I’ve been working on… This is the RotorTech 385 Ultimate!

Redesigned from the ground up, the RT-385U aims to be one of the most powerful and versatile 380 blades out there. Following the RotorTech Ultimate design philosophy, this blade provides stronger collective thrust and higher agility, while not sacrificing stability or efficiency compared to the regular RT-380.

With the RT-385U, we’re able to bring the performance known from the 560U, 580U, 610U and 700U to 380 size helicopters. Whether you’re flying an extremely light or rather heavy machine, the RT-385U is designed to handle it with ease and provides agile 3D performance, a late stalling point and excellent flight handling over a wide RPM range.

The RT-385U has just finished its prototyping stage at the time of this post and will be available later this year. Matching RT-71U and RT-72U will be available as well.

Stay tuned! Low RPM video coming in the next few days.

RotorTech 385 Ultimate | Protos 380 | 2600 & 3000RPM (3 min 1 sec)

RotorTech 385 Ultimate | Protos 380 | Low RPM (3 min 28 sec)

Good job Jonas !

Could you make a low rpm video (2200-2400 rpm)?

Do you use any 'lightness' on your vbar ?
Thanks !

2000RPM already recorded, just need to edit and upload. You'll be surprised

No AG on the 380 as it's running a mini blueline. Doesn't need it either.

I was never happy with stock tail blades at 2000 , then I went align it was better in holding but it was still wonky ( sound wise ) ... , I don't fly low rpm alot , I now play around at 2600 ish on my protos

can you elaborate why you would make a 71 and 72 , from the numbers it sound like a 1 mm difference ? does that matter , or is the width different ?

also I can't remember do you fly the protos tail speed up ?

Haha... The RT-71 and RT-72 exist because manufacturers of 380 helis couldn't agree on a tail grip size. The 71 has a 2.6mm root with a 2mm hole (fits P380), the 72 has a 3mm root with a 2.6mm bore (fits G380).

I have not sped up the Protos tail. I used to, but it's so stupidly powerful, it really isn't necessary and takes quite a bit of stress off the assembly and servo to just run stock ratio.

Sounds great, I’m definitely in for a few pairs. When I can’t make it to the field I love ripping around my Oxy 4 and Buddy at the local park.

I'm guessing you'll love how quiet the 385U is then. I know people can quickly get annoyed by blade noise, especially in more frequented areas like parks.

Interested in these for my oxy4 max (got normal rotortechs on it now with the plastic tail blades) ... The oxy4max manual says "M2.5 / 3 mm root." for tail blade clamping. I'm assuming then that the RT72U tail blades will fit it?

Yepp. All Ultimate tail blades are identical to their regular counterparts in geometry, painted in the new paint scheme for them to match the mains.

1290g with a 6S 1400mAh 45C pack. 3 of the 4 relevant 380 size helis on the market fall into the 1100-1300g range, so 1300g was the design weight for the RT-385U. It's a pretty powerful blade.

Do you offer these in tail blades for the Oxy4 Max? If so, where can I order?

They’re not out yet. Just get the existing RT72 (the ‘Ultimate’ tail blades are identical to the non-Ultimates: (Except for the paint)

I can wait until the set is out. I am not currently in need of blades. have rotor tech mains on the oxy 4 max + the stock plastic ones. I was just wanting to make sure the matching tail blades would fit the max so i could replace the plastic.
