Default Taming theQX 3D Throttle

I've had a Blade nano quad for a couple of years and haven't used it much because the throttle is so twitchy. I got the 3D recently and I have the same issue with it. I'm using generous expo on the other controls to good effect, but I don't know what to do about the throttle. Is there some way to tame it in the radio? I'm using a DX7S.

Well, just reduce the end points of the throttle channel.

Not familiar with the DX7S, but it should be something like Servo Travel. You will not achieve the aame "curve smoothing" effect as Expo, but it will get less twitchy (and less powerful too).

I just tried adjusting the throttle travel limits. The radio only allows me to adjust one the limits, the one on the right, which I assume is the low end. When I set it to a value less than 100%, the drone won't arm, even in beginner mode. The only other thing I see that I can adjust is subtrim, and I'm not entirely sure what that does. From what Ive read, it's for fine adjustment if the idle on gas engines.

Leave the low limit at 100, and only adjust the other one.

Disconnect the battery of the quad, push up the stick, and voilą, you will be able to change the upper limit.

Thanks! I learned something about my radio. :-)

Unfortunately, lowering the upper travel limit on the throttle did not resolve my issue. However, I've found that ignoring the advice about leaving the stick alone except to nudge it intermittently, and constantly riding the throttle instead, works for me. Also, I've had a bit more experience in evo mode, and I think the throttle seems less twitchy in evo mode. So I think I can enjoy this drone now.

Thanks again!

Have you tried reducing the tension on the stick so it becomes much easier to move without suddenly jumping?

What do you mean? Just having a light touch? Or is there a mechanical or electrical adjustment to be made?

Check the manual of the radio, but there should be a screw which acts to make the stick smoother or "harder".

Does your stick move smoothly, or does it kinda "stick" and then moves a bit all the time? If it sticks, you could check that and also the famous "teflon mod" (first sticky thread here)

It could also be that you have the "ratchet" on, so that the stick really moves in small "clicks"... in that case, once more, check your manual for how to remove it.

(Just guessing, no idea of you level of experience with this stuff nor if you fly helis and/or planes too)

Have you had any luck adjusting your stick tension?
