Default My NX4

Sorry guys..... proud NOOB here posting a picture of his new toy. This is my 2nd weekend with my new Gaui NX4 and the gas engine upgrade. So far been working on engine break in and now working on hovering.

Love this machine so far. Very steady. Fun to build. Easy to build. And Empire RC and Team Gaui have been great to work with. I can not say enough about these guys. I can not speak about other heli companies but wow these guys have been awesome to work with.

Very nice!
I recently sold my NX4 (O.S.37), and have regretted it. It is a great heli.

I seen that. It's pretty tempting, but it's just not in the cards right now.

That gas engine conversion looks pretty cool, especially considering the price of gas vs nitro fuel, oh yeah and the looooonger flight times!

How easy are you finding it to tune etc?

tuning isn't a problem. also, fuel costs a bit less when compared to nitro when you consider the gas engine uses 5:1 mixture. 2 cycle oil isn't cheap. the advantage is that you can get fuel at most gas stations.

Default Tuning

I agree with Ral. Tuning was pretty simple. And it has been pretty easy to get running. Yes you have to break it in but hey what else do you do on a warm summers eve than sit on the porch drinking a cold one with your heli idling by the garage. A few tank fulls and she was ready to fly.

I like the gas engine for the fuel cost and the ease. I use the Red Line two stroke racing oil. I fly RC gasser planes so the premix fuel was a extension of what I was already used to.

I like the flight times.... and wow I love the Gaui colors. I think she is a pretty cool looking bird.

OK cool good to know that the tuning isn't too tricky. For break in, you idle out a few tankfulls?! So that's a few weeks then hahaha... (it must idle FOREVER on a tank!!)

The fuel costs, I did a quick calculation, with that redline oil you mentioned and a 5:1 ratio and the cost of gasoline seems like it's around $15/gallon, vs around $30/gallon of 30% nitro. That's pretty good, half price basically and you get almost double the flight times right?

I agree the NX4 is a really cool looking heli!

Default Idle long time

Oh boy she idles forever on a tank of fuel.

I am looking forward to lots of flying. Just grabbed 2 more flight packs so not I can keep the servos fueled too. LOL I was using up 450 mAh on a flight which was lasting 10 minutes. But I am hovering. I am guessing my 1450 mah flight pack may last me two flights. So with 3 packs I can get a enough flying in for the day.

Even with gas I can not get away from brining a load of batteries to the heli field. LOL but at least these are 2S LiFe packs.
