Axtually, while you're at it, Mr. Blade, could you just give us back the old MCPX and its brushless sister.

Same stuff as my suggestions for a new new and improved Nano CPS would apply, but I'd still be happy even if you just gave us the old MCPX that we all know and love.

If I can really dream, I wonder how hard it would be to make a shaft-drive or belt-drive tail for the Blade Micro or Nano copters?

I for one would gladly pay for that, along with my cf frame and brushless motor.

Please Mr. Blade make this happen please.

Preferably in time for Christmas!

Would be nice! Im not sure if anything exists that was smaller than the 130X that had a shaft or belt driven tail. The 130X is a great machine when its well maintained.

Any kind of additional weight kills a Micro.

If it was possible...I sure

someone would have done it by now.

A lot of things are possible that are not done. Blade could bring back the MCPX, for instance, but has not done so.

I don't know whether or how much of a weight penalty there might be for a belt-driven or shaft-driven tail vs a separate motor, and whether or not the weight penalty would be worth it.

After all, we've all seen micros and nanos with heavier 7mm tails and other add-ons fly, and fly well. For that matter, a collective pitch copter is heavier and more complicated than a fixed-pitch equivalent, but I don't see many of us selling our collective pitch birds for fixed-pitch.

Another problem might be maintenance and adjustment. Anything that small can be real fiddly, as anyone who has set zero pitch or spindle preload on a nano knows. The 130X tail was notorious that way, and a smaller helicopter would likely be even more so.

My guess is that Blade hasn't done this, not because it's impossible, but because there isn't a sufficient business case for doing so. They don't think that the performance improvement, if any, over current offerings would justify the increased price to enough people ready, willing and able to pay that increased price.

A motor-driven Tail is cheaper and easier to maintain which is usually the idea with micros. A collective pitch tail means a lot more parts, extra tail servo, etc. I would absolutely love an updated 130X with an improved tail case. LETS GO BLADE!!! No more “S” models please!

Agreed...

S models are a downgrade in performance and category

The 130X needs an upgrade similar to the 180CFX tail system to make it the perfect backyard choice

As far as I can tell, MCPX BL 3-in-1s are pretty plentiful (if pricey) on the 'Bay.

Put me down for an mCPS BL, as in brushless main and tail motors, 2S power, beefier rotor head, longer blades, etc.

Yep, me too! I would imagine with all this FAA crap, developments in micro-sized helicopters should be a priority. Many of us really need high performance micro helis!

I was surprised to find out how much fun you can have (and what you can learn) with a sub 250g heli

Absolutely! Since Blade no long makes the MCPX BL, or an equivalent, I've been flying my 150X into the ground, literally, lol. I have found that anything I learn on the 150X, I can immediately do my Oxy helis. Same thing is true with my little ole Nano CPS. But, gosh, it's so under-powered that I rarely fly it.

a 130mm double brushless, durable esc/rx/fbl, 2s, no glitchy BS, and a solid tail hold like xk k120.

and 249g fully loaded w rescue and gorilla skids,

thanks!

just bring back the 130x and put a good lightweight BL tail motor on it.

They tried that with the 130S....no good! The 130X was far superior in my opinion. The toque tube tail was MUCH more stable and predictable in flight. It was also a lot easier to work on than the 130S. To change something as simple as the vertical fin on the 130S it was a 20 minute job of pulling apart the whole tail assembly.

The 130X just needed some refinements or a V2 update to work out the kinks.

I wonder if anyone with Blade even refers to this thread anymore.

I hope they do.
