Default 450 Pro V1- governor or not

Hello,
I fly an old trex 450 pro v1 with Brain 2 flybarless unit.

I am wondering if it would make sense to fly with governed head speed or if it would just be useless.

Can anyone please advise their opinion? Then what would be the ideal head speed to be set?

Thanks,
Daniele

In my 450 Pro, I use Skookum 540 FBL controller and it's governor. I set HS to 2900, 3100 and 3300.

I like FBL governor which is better than ESC governer. I use NORM (2900) HS to take off then switch to IDL1 (3100) to fly and then back to 2900 to land.

Dunni sbiut fbl governer. But yep governer store with 3600kv motor and 14t pinion should give around 3200rpm at 80% throttle (learned at 4.0v).

Motor and gearing is going to be dependsnt on what u wsnt out of your heli.

My choice im thuniing might not be quite right. Should hsve went with 3600kv as i think im gonna be bogging the motor too much

I use NTM 1700KV (6s) in my 450 Pro, ESC is YEP 40A. Main gear is the original straight gear - 150T and pinion, I think it is 14 teeth.

I dont run a governor on my 450 pro but 90% of helifreakers will tell you to use it. Fbl gov over esc gov to boot.

Thats what ive just setup now (previously 3400kv with 13T pinion ungoverned)

i had the 3600kv with 14t pinion ungoverned at first, HS was pretty scary at full throttle, about to test governed. Hope it doesnt bog too much.

as for wether to run a governer or not? i guess it depens on what kind of flying you are doing. If consistant HS is important run a governer. Without a governer your HS will be slowing down during the flight.
