Maybe see if Compass could put together a could minus the parts not needed to complete the build as Helidirect did for the Goblin.

What engine does this use RC or PUH?

The best way to build this would be to get a donor electric? Or Buy individual parts from protos Like the head and tail?
Its possible that there may be "short" kits offered as are done for the Goblin, Agile and Synergy conversions. Since the model hasn't flown yet, a little too soon to go down that path

Neither, this is a different format (name to be determined), very similar to the CRRC engine however with a better mounting system and machined in TRM performance improvements

Will this engine only fit the Max, or would it fit for example the Hirobo Freya (instead of the GT15HZ)?

Initially only for the Protos, however over time there may be an option to use it in some of the other JCD conversions.

It would NOT fit in the Freya without making several parts.

Rudy,
It's a new crankcase design with fan on top similar to a Nitro setup and closer to a PUH but with a fan that works!! Makes great power as compared to my newest TRM 300! The upper end is 300 based but many changes for the lighter crank etc.

I suggested adding mounting holes for Synergy skids a while back. That way you could either use the stock slanted MSH skids or the taller "flat" Synergy ones as you prefer.

It is in the air! Can't wait to get the engine fully broken in and the FBL dialed in. Next is to log lots of flights for durability testing. It is very agile.

Looks really good! What sort of weight is it coming in at now with everything on it?

Compared to the RC format this motor is ~15.5oz lighter.

While the setup has a few flights on it now, there is still some work to do. We have identified some areas to pull more weight out of the setup, but it's all a little premature, as no one has started pushing the model to really test the cooling system.

So far, no show stoppers. I'm hoping to start breaking my motor in tomorrow.

Shaving a pound off the overall weight is pretty remarkable.

Default Engine Comparison

Here are a few photos with a conventional RC format engine out of one of my Goblins versus the new engine in the Protos that Mike and Joey developed.
A much more compact and lightweight version of the TRM 300.

Wow that heli is a lot more compact vertically than my T rex/Helibug conversion
combine that with the lighter weight and I bet it rolls and flies a lot better

I think I want on the waiting list for when it becomes available
