Default Custom 700N DTS

Having had a few Align 700X and absolutey love how they fly I decided to make a nitro version. I looked at the split frame upper to lower and really couldn't see any benefit but could see a benefit of splitting the frames front and back for ease of replacement and cost.

Another major influence was ease of maintenance. I created a frame where the fans shroud can be removed by releasing just 2 oversized buttons. Clutch can be removed and serviced from the top. Engine can be removed without removing the skids.

Next was gearing or lack of.

This machine can run any combo of tail gears/ratios,104/102 and 21/22/23t.

Main gear it can run the older 115,112,110 or latest 112/110 (new pinion required).

Using the DFC frame width with bearing block so the older 700N clutch/tank fits.

The frame has an additional frame brace and there is no frame twist its rock solid.

Either side is a frame runner like the black nitro for neat and easy wiring.

FBL unit is protected within the frames on a custom mount.

Mate of mine fitted a custom clutch liner perfectly gapped for a gasser clutch. Runs super smooth and will outlast the model.

Skids are from the 700X for the raked look.

Head and backend came off my 700X.

I have flown this hard for the last 6 weeks in a prototype aluminium version but have now upgraded to carbon.

CofG is spot on with a 5000mah 2s lipo.

AUW is 4.7kg with 1/4 tank of fuel.

It flies absolutely superbly. Pinpoint accurate and stops on a dime.

I haven't reinvented the wheel here but blended some good ideas on to a common airframe.

Enjoy the pics. Iv'e really enjoyed this project.

There are only 5 of these in existence. It's a personal project I have a 700 and 650 size and 2 mates have bagged the other 3 for 700 setups.

Very cool, I have considered doing a similar build but I'm wanting a belted tail as well.

It works fine tbh the canopy is so easy to get on and off really not needed. Not sure i'd rush to do it on my 2nd one.

I'm thinking about it, I'm using the helioption mounts and one of the front ones is very close to the exhaust so taking it off when its hot can be painful!

I could use different ones for the front, say magnets but I like every thing the same, that way its interchangeable, so If I do swap them over to magnetic ones on the front ill have to do it for 3 helis. Not end of the would but, a switch could be easier.

Your right on the front it is close to the exhaust. You have to do some gymnastics with the fingers not to catch it. The switch is a very easy option and does work great. Tries magnetic before not a fan except the msh ones they work great. May

That is a badass heli. I like the Simrok style. You should add a black/orange boom cover to complete the look. Nice work.

Default front canopy posts

I adapted some Synergy N7 parts to make removing the front of the canopy easier and burn free on my Srimok. Could probably work on any model. Here's the parts I used.

http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php...oducts_id=2021

I ordered these but ended up not having to use them due to the Srimoks front posts working.

http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php...oducts_id=2022

These washers go on the outside of the canopy and screw into the u-channels keeping them in place.
http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php...oducts_id=1982

Canopy just slides off and on now with no more burned fingers.

Thanks for the positive comments. Good idea to use the synergy U channel on the front hadn't thought of that.

I have just finished building a 670mm bladed version running a 105. Hope to try that at the weekend. Not a massive difference in size but should go really well. Here is a pic against the 700.

Cool video, a bit different seeing it from above.

Were you flying both?

I've been wanting to try the tracking mode on the phantom 4 and see how well that will film a heli. I gave it a quick test and it kept up for the most part.

Haven't tried the active track yet on the heli will give it a go as well along with some other modes like setting an orbit. I set the quad up with a position hold and then flew the heli, wife was briefed to watch the quad and hit RTH if necessary.

How are you getting on with yours?
