In the same way that I recorded the non-receipt of responses, I will record that Evan today emailed me, saying that he posted my unit repaired 26 days ago.
As soon as I receive it, I will return here to record the receipt

Thank you all .

Wow, eight months after they tell you to send it in, so they have essentially stolen your $400 unit.

I would be filing a theft charge with the Canadian Police where they are located

Default unit received

Just to be fair, today, almost 1 year later , I received my unit back.

I have not tested yet , but I want to believe that it is working properly.

My thanks to Skokum guys , but the complain of the total lack of communication remains .

Eduardo

Depending on which receiver you have, you can use a Traditional Rx Cable that was sold by Skookum or you can make your own. You can produce a single cable for this application by removing the plugs from another, it takes 2 minutes to do, no soldering needed, just a sharp craft knife to release the pins.

But there is a caveat. Using traditional RX cable, you only get one AUX channel, which might not be enough if you also have to connect a SK-GPS or want to setup individual gain control.

Good luck in getting replies from Skookum; they seems to be out of the hobby business.

Another sad chapter in my fight with the SK540.
I had a lot of difficulty getting the proper setup and let the heli to my liking. By a great coincidence I saw the heli of a friend on the field with the same unit and he very kindly helped me and the heli got fantastic.
I haven't flown more than 10 times with it.
Yesterday, I decided to take the heli out for a flight and what was not my surprise, the unit is dead !!
Out of the blue !!
I turned on the battery, nothing; I connected the USB, nothing, I disconnected everything from the heli and connected an external battery with the USB, NOTHING !!
Very disappointing !!
I'm going to paint it green and throw it in the bush, so I won't be in danger of finding it again if I ever regret it !!
Great peace os SHIT !!!

RIP Skookum.

I tried a SK720 in a previous life because of its self-leveling, but it was too sensitive to vibrations. After I switched to Spirit, which has excellent self-leveling/rescue, I still used the SK720 stand alone for its vibration analysis.

Same for me too. I even added the GPS to it on my Trex 600E and the GPS would go offline due to vibrations mid-way through every flight. I was hoping to add the same setup to my Trex 700N. But after the constant failures with the electric heli, there was no way it was going to get better on a nitro.
I was also using the SK540 red but could never get my Trex 600N to fly right.
I switched to Brain / Brain2 and never looked back. It had all the features of the Skookum (except for GPS) and made all the heli fly rock-steady. I stopped having to tweak the SK after every flight chasing a stability and learned to fly.

It sad really, Skookum 360 was my first FBL unit many many years ago, and eventually updated to 540 unit which was always fantastic.

However after the company sort of left the hobby sector behind i eventually switched brands. Skookum is a great controller, just needs some manufacture support.

Default SK540 latest version ?

Hi friends ... the skookum 540 QUEST remains ...

Instead of painting my unit green and throwing it in the bush, as I SHOULD HAVE done ; I gave it to a friend who knows electronics , he tested the circuits , found no faults , did a good cleaning with clean contacts and I 'm back to suffering with my SK540

I must have wasted 1000 hours struggling with problems, and 1 hour flying .

Question please :

Does anyone know what the latest software version Skookum has made available for the SK540 ? Mine firmware is 4.07 software 4.09 .

Thanks

Help me understand...
Why are you doing this?
The company is gone, the firmware support is off line, it is a unit that has a history of failures, letting you down and now you want to give it ne more shot to destroy a heli and put lives in danger.

I understand your point and respect your opinion.

The few flights I took with it, I really enjoyed the feeling of the flight.
So I would like to make it work.

As for putting lives at risk , it 's very unlikely , as I fly on a field in the middle of nowhere , with the necessary structure to comply with all safety regulations .
Unlike many 3D pilots who fly the Heli 5 meters from the nose, I fly scale, far from the Heli.

There is another factor to be taken into account. For those who live in a place where access to equipment and resources is easy and inexpensive , it is difficult to understand the difficulties of those who do not have these facilities.
A FBL unit here in Brazil costs more than a month's salary and takes up to 6 months to arrive .
For us here it is difficult to just throw away and buy another one .

Certainly the Heli is worth much more than the unit, but I will be very cautious in testing.

Anyway thanks for your contribution
