Default High VIS 180 :)

So I had to get a 180CFX. I know they are discontinued but I got one 2 weeks ago.
Love the way it flies.... But it flies big for a heli this size and I had a hard time seeing it.

No trim or decals yet but I think I will see it now

Does look nice, clean, and bright!

Is that a rattle can spray paint? If so what brand and type? And for the boom, some stick on?

Getting ready to do the same thing myself in a week or so. The original colors blend too much into the tree colors for my liking.

Happy flying. Steve

Awesome high vis color!
Finless! You don't know me, but you sure taught me well. Your vids 3 years ago got me through my 1st everything on my first rebuild and set up of an old 500 (my first cp).
So many thanks I can't list them all here...
Cuz of you I too became a helifreak...

I have just come back from a long break and happen to also have gotten my old favorite 180 size to rip on.
Mines sporting my old beat to heck cano to give it that "lived in" feel. And that's about all.. slowly it will morph into one of my beasts.
Love the 180's!

Thanks all.... To answer some questions.

This is Krylon or Rustolium spray can. Not hard to work with but know something about the florescent colors. YOU MUST put on a flat white primer to any part!

If you do not do this the brightness of the florescent color will not come out.

1 light but fully coated flat white primer. Primer is very light and covers well.
Then once that is dry (about 2-3 hours) ONE and I mean ONE coat of the florescent color. If you put it on too thick it will dull and change to a darker color. It HAS to go on a white primer and HAS to be thin as possible.

All in all it's not hard. I did everything in the same day since Krylon or Rustolium dries very fast.

Hope that helps...

FYI... The 180 CFX is a freaking GREAT flying heli. My favorite sub 450 right now!
Why Blade dumped it I will never know.... Best sub 450 they had out and I have them all.

Bob

Bob, thank you for the great tips on painting. I have purchased Rustoleum fluorescent yellow and orange. I am thinking they say something like "all in one paint and primer", but I wasn't very trusting of that, so also bought primer. I just want something that I can see really well!

Thanks again for the tips. Steve

Bob,

Welcome back and thank you for all the videos!!!

Rakon heli used to have a Lion canopy or some other canopy designs that had really great visibility (to my eyes).

There is this one:
https://www.rakonheli.com/lionheli-f...e-180-cfx.html

I also changed to Zeal energy CF 155 yellow main blades, also tried their green ones. But I think Blade's CF main blades had the best flight characteristics on the 180cfx (I haven't tried the rail 156's).

FYI...the 180CFX is being brought back as the 180CFX Trio...but the stock 2 blade head parts will fit right on...

So it's not discontinued...it's reborn

That's a good one and large too! Easily fit with your batteries. I bought two on sale long ago.

I've noticed the same concerning the blades.

That's some serious visibility! The stock one is challenging. Even the FG one in orange can be tough. Thanks for the instructable
