Default Castle Creations 160HVF?

Hi Guys

Have a Compass Chronos kit on its way.

I was going to fit a Castle Ice 2 160 (that I already have).

However a friend wants to swap a CC 160 HVF (with the fan) as it doesnt fit under the canopy of his Logo 700.

I wont be getting around to the build for a while but he wants to do the swap soon.

Can anyone advise me if the HVF version will fit under the Chronos canopy ok?

Thanks!

I'm not using the Castle with fan. Perhaps someone else can chime in?

I'm pretty sure it will fit even with the fan... Below is a pic of my Chronos with a YGE160 plus heatsink. It is mounted on top of foam which makes it sit higher. The foam is for ESC crash protection. At worse you might have to move the ESC backwards closer to the motor.

Sorry I can't help too much more on the castle side of things, but I am running the hobbywing 130 with the fan on my chronos and have no issues with canopy clearance. I just checked and have about an inch between the canopy and fan top if that is of any help.

Firstly thanks for all the replies and pics guys.

I ended up hearing direct from Mick @ Compass Australia (he was very helpful).

He actually flys his Chronos with a CC 160HVF and apparently it fits easily.

So the answer is a definite YES (and I did the trade with my mate for the standard CC 160).

He also mentioned that the Chronos (and I presume the 7HV) will take up to a Kosmik 200 without any apparent issues.

The CC 160 is going to be way overkill for my style of flying (gentle sport with the occasional roll and loop) but I'm sure I'll probably never come close to getting the ESC stressed in any way!

Cheers

Dave

The ESC does not have to go up, inside of the canopy...

It does not look as nice with the ESC exposed, but it stays much cooler this way-especially in the high temperatures we experience here in Southern California (in excess of 100 degrees fairly frequently these days).

Yes the CC fits just fine with no issues, I'm using one on my Chronos.

Yep there seems to be a few people using them.
