Default Blade Introduces the 330X

From the Blade RC Facebook page...

Introducing the Blade 330 X !

Sharing the heritage of the original 450 X, the Blade 330X is the all-in-one solution for intermediate helicopter pilots looking to take on exciting aerobatic maneuvers with a convenient and capable machine.

The model is equipped with the Spektrum AR636A receiver with AS3X for rock-solid flight stability. Powered by the common 3S 2200mAh battery, 45A ESC, and 4200Kv brushless motor, this heli delivers plenty of punch for the intermediate pilot.

High performance metal gear digital servos give crisp, precise response on all flight controls of this helicopter, providing locked-in and predictable commands in the air. Comes RTF with a Spektrum DXe, battery and charger, and BNF Basic.

Yay, another makeover of an ancient model. First the mCPS and now this. Guess it's a lot easier to keep selling all the old parts they already have than actually come out with a truly new and exciting model.

And, in for the "If you don't like it, then XYZ." comment(s) in 3...2...

This one makes no sense what's so ever... you're going to put that receiver in there but it doesn't come with any of the features that receiver has the offer in other models.

Now I truly believe they're out of ideas. I mean I know the helicopter Market is really crappy right now but come on.

I'm glad I took up flying airplanes because there's new models out all the time!

I'm really surprised they didn't put SAFE on it like they're doing with everything else. It's the same RX/FBL unit that's on the 230S and 250CFX which do have SAFE. The AR636 unit is also a downgrade from the AR7200/7210BX units as it's nowhere near as adjustable or tunable, especially for use on other helis in the future as one progresses.

I also can't believe they kept the same junky 440H motor. For $10 more, the E-flight 450H is a far better motor that doesn't have a soft shaft that eats bearings.

Looks like the count got to 77 - 78 - 79 before the detractors showed up in triple fashion

Personally I really like the 450X...have My second one ready to maiden at Barnstormers over Buffalo this weekend

This will likely be a nice addition to My fleet

I do like it but already have a custom 450X and a 360CFX. Why they discontinued the two blade model is still a mystery to me. It's a nice heli without needing three blades.

Maybe it will be for those who want a 450ish out of box flyable model and it is something people can get behind who have older 450 inventory sitting around to support it. Why they don't include the learning features using the AR636 is also strange. I know people complain about SAFE but if it's an intermediate heli people still learning might want those things.

Maybe after it's been around a bit I will pick up a new or used one. I think it's a good move on Blade's part considering the popularity of the model it's based on.

So do I, but mine's highly modified. Lynx metal tail gearbox, full Lynx carbon frame, iKON, Hobbywing ESC, 450H motor, MKS/KST servos, etc. I guess it's not even really the same heli anymore.

I'm kind of glad it came out. I have a Blade 450 3D, and have been thinking of converting it to FBL soon. Now I'll be able to get parts for it a lot easier.

Mine was a bit rusty from the box...so I replaced the entire tail setup with Lynx...

Then found a Lynx stretch kit - Lynx 6S motor - Talon 35 and bought another complete Lynx tail for the next rebuild to give it 270CFX-like power

My 450X I picked up here used. The guy even machined some custom AL parts for it on his own. Of course the 3G went bye bye for an Ikon. I like the big dedicated tail servo.

It will be interesting to see what third party vendors like Lynx and Microheli revamp or bring back to support this heli.

I don´t see anything bad with re-using parts, I mean look at other brands, most of them have compatible parts among slightly modified models...

Yeah this model is the same as the 450x (last model with helical main gear and metal servos), minus the beastx, to drop prices. I will place this heli side to side to the 230s (that a lot of guys are flying), you can choose either go for the motor tail or the belted tail on this 330. So just another choice which is good in our hobby.

Still amazed at align´s 470´s supercombo prices, how do they do it? (If you compare prices between the BNF 330 and the 470 supercombos.)

I think it was a good idea, nothing wrong with reusing parts. The 450 was a good copter. I would like to see them do more belt driven/TT tail helis.

I like the idea of this heli. I am glad to see an update, though, after all these years, it is simply unacceptable to put that motor in there! For $10 more, it would have appealed to even more people and been a far better heli.

I am also amused that the Blade 450's have always had 325mm blades and now they have a heli with 325mm blades, called the Blade 330X and according to the video is in the 450 class of helicopters! This whole numbers thing is amusing.

All that being said, if there is a resurgence in the RC helicopter world, it will be because of Blade. First was their amazing 230s, then the 130s, the return of the mCP, and now this. Definitely a clear ladder to climb, from the mSR-S, mCP-S, 130s, 230s, and now the 330X. This is a company people love to hate, but they are keeeping this hobby alive. No other company is putting so much effort into a hobby that most felt was disappearing.

I see it a little differently than maybe some. If you are a beginner pilot and you want a belt-driven tail (I think it is a belt tail - didn't look) with something a little larger before you move into kits, this isn't so bad.

Personally, I would have preferred a bare frame and let me add the electronics and make the areas where these items get installed with plenty of room and you have a ready to go kit - sort of. The hardest part people have is setting all the electronics up. Why not sell something ready to go except this and make that my learning platform? Provide some guidelines on how to set those things up, like setting pitch, etc, and people can learn without having to worry about putting the thing all together.

That would be too bold a thing to do for Blade though.

I usually bash Blade, but realize they aren't making helis for me. Their market area is beginners and this one doesn't seem too bad to me.

I don't see anything wrong with a rehash of the 450x. I still fly my original 450x. FBL unit aside they have made some improvements.

However they should seriously have improved the current tail boom clamping mechanism. Everyone and their dog knows that.

Have 450X head parts become difficult to get? I haven't checked in a while. It's a very easy conversion. All of the parts for the two airframes (450 3D and 450X V1) are exactly the same from the swash, including the swash, down. Just add a 450X rotor head, FBL blades and a decent FBL unit and you're in business. Oh, you might need the 450X mainshaft. Can't remember if those were the same.
