It keeps the lights on. And it's great that it's a free service for the hobbyists. And to me it's clear vendors are buying a lot less ads these days which means a lot less revenue for the site.

I'm sure if you have ideas on how to generate more revenue without ads they are all ears. But I'm greatful Helifreak is here for us, and I will live with whatever ads keeps it here.

I'm a paying advertiser because I believe Helifreak is one of the core arteries in the hobby. My personal hobby would be lost without it. I still strongly prefer HF over Facebook.

Ads are a minor annoyance vs the great wealth of information here

Increasing amount of Ads are a sign of the times when one browses the internet... Not just on Helifreak but everywhere. Some sites will not even let you view content if you have an adblocker turned on. This is not HF fault but more like googles' and other social media sites in general. This is the way they make money... They monitor your browsing habits and target ads to you.

Well said Alex!

I'll put up with a few adds...

You will learn to ignore them after a while.

Some of the ads are kind of nice. The Pogocam is something I would buy, for example, to record my flights. I keep having issues finding the proper angle of my baseball hat's cap to get a good centered view of the field when recording. I also think it's a good thing if it keeps the site free for the rest of us.

I just figured out if you bring up the menu on the left side, the 3 horizontal lines, at the bottom you can select Exit Enhanced Mobile view.

I selected that and I'm back to regular HF with no extra ads on my Android.

Tapatalk and AdBlock.

Alternatives are paid memberships or paid premium members where premium members get larger avatars, custom names/emblems and larger signatures. The downside being that these features have to be heavily limited for the free users in order to incentivize people to pay up

You're confused.

The revenue is for Helifreak to exist. Helifreak is a business not a charity. They have expenses. It's a lot of work.

If Helifreak doesn't make money as a business it closes. Simple as that.
