tail rotor stalling, measuring maximum pitch
A couple of my helis are capable of very large tail pitch angles. Maybe as much as 45deg. From the information I've been able to find, 25 to 30deg is the maximum before the blades are at risk of stalling.
I've uploaded a pdf that you can print/cut out to use as a basic gauges to check your tail pitch angles. Fold the tail blades so they form a "V" at max deflection and sight the gauge down the middle of them. Blade pitch is 1/2 of the included angle printed on the gauge. Hope this is useful to someone! |
