Default Servo question

Can't really find an appropriate forum for this, but one of my new BK 3001 servos has about 1 mm of back and forth play in the direction of travel when its turned on. The other two I have do not have that much play (that is when it is powered on). Seems like a lot of play to me. Has anyone had similar experience?

Actually discovered the SAB control horn was not snug on the output shaft of the servo. Not sure how that happens as it certainly was when it was installed. Has anyone had any issues of those being loose on the BK servos? The screw holding it in place was tight, so that wasn't it. Very strange, but I used a new control horn and all seems well.

Ditch the SAB horns. The splines are very weak. Designed I believe to save a servo in a crash but they can cause more issues than they prevent. I will never use them again.

Thanks, that makes sense. I've never encountered that before with any control horns but of course that is the first time I've used the ones from SAB. I'm going to remove those and use the ones that came with the BK servos.

According to a Bert interview, he mentioned that you want a horn strong enough not to strip in flight, but with enough give to spare the servo gears in case of a crash. He discussed how the SAB horns are way too strong and will not protect the servo gears in case of a crash. That has been my own personal experience also. Bert recommended to use the servo horns that come with the BK DS-3001HV servos for 380 size helicopters.

The SAB 380 horns wear way too quick developing play in the spline. BK horns work much better. Better stock extra gears, that is a weak link in the 3001 servos.

I still really like the SAB 700 horns, wear like iron but strip in a big crash. Funny how they missed the mark on the 380 horns.

Thanks for all the great info about these guys. I'm in the process of removing the SAB horns right now and putting on the ones that came with the 3001's.
