My wife and I are planning to make the trip from Texas this year. I have a brother living in Buena Vista and a nephew-in-law living in Englewood, so we're making a family trip out of it. Camping reservations are already made.

Are we going to have the full day on Sunday to fly helis?

I wouldn't mind social media so much if it didn't involve people.

No problem regarding Sunday lunch. We'll be staying in the park another couple of days and we should have plenty to eat in the camper.

The main reason I asked about Sunday is the shortened Sunday at last year's event...or so I heard.

I'm looking forward to going to this one.

Does anyone know the elevation at the field?

I don't know about the field, but the lake at the park is 5430'.

Sorry I haven't been too active here lately. My sign business is consuming my "retirement"! The field elevation is about 50' higher than the lake. Just under 6000'. It flies a lot lower than that, by that i mean, you don't notice the elevation as much as you might think.

What you guys want for lunch and dinner on Saturday? I'm thinking BBQ pulled pork and smoked brisket.

Works for me.

I may ask you about some vinyl graphics for our camper while I'm there. Got anything with eagles (preferably golden), hawks, or owls?

Hey, Bum! Tell me what you would like and I can have it ready for you. Pretty much any size and cheap (for you!).

Just so everyone knows, the campgrounds at Chatfield are full and reserved. You need to get in there about 4-5 months in advance if you want a decent site.

On another note, if you are coming PLEASE go into RCFlightdeck and register. There are no registrations in there yet and if the club asks, I may have a hard time with them. Getting heli events approved are a tough sell with some of the club officers and it blew them away with what we did last year.

We'll be in Buena Vista on the 21st, which is supposed to get about 88% totality.

Here's a link to an interactive map; click on a location and you'll get all the details for that location.
