Question Differences in tail gear drive?

I stripped out the stock plastic tail drive gear, so replaced it with the Blade aluminum gear drive that the local hobby shop had in the discountinued parts bin. Now as soon as I get the heli to spin up to full power and ready for lift off, it starts to spin CCW. I have disassembled and reassembled twice with the same result.

It almost seems like the stock drive and aluminum drive are different gear ratios. Does anyone know if that is true? Anything else I should be looking at besides ordering another stock gear drive?

Are you sure you have the tail belt 1 quarter turn so your blades rotate the right way?

Well no, now I'm not sure. As a matter of fact, I didn't know that was a requirement. I assumed that the run needed to be straight, so that might explain it!

Thanks Baggley
