Default Hi From Minnesota

Hi Everyone,
I am 57and currently live in south central Minnesota. I recently went to a SMMAC event in Owatonna MN and that sent me on this new path of wanting to build and fly a RC aircraft. I started looking at airplane trainers and in the process found and fell in love with RC Copters.
Going back to when I was a teenager I built and flew several nitro U- control planes and a lot of model rockets but that kind of faded away as life went on.
I recently bought a Hirobo Shuttle off from EBay with a Futaba Tx and Rx that needs some work and I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions as this process evolves.
Thanks,
Greg Crosby

Hi Greg and welcome.
Your starting a little earlier than I did. The rewards make me feel like a kid again. The newbies tips and information pages have so much to learn from. Members here are incredibly helpful. My mentor is from Minnesota. That will really help the learning curve. If you don't have one already a SIM also speeds the process. Heli x has one for free to start with. All you neef is a tx and $6 canle. Many options to choose from.
Have fun as your fleet grows

Hi and welcome!

I would think you got a great deal on that Shuttle but if I am not mistaken that is a Flybar helicopter. Today's technology allows to have Flybar-less technology which involves more electronic and less mechanical setup. To me Flybarless is easier to learn on. Besides you may struggle a bit to get Shuttle parts if you crash.

Someone must surely think I work for Blade or something but I do not. I simply had a very good experience with a little inexpensive helicopter and keep recommending it. I truly believe it is the best helicopter to learn with. I have no idea how your budget looks like but the little Blade 230 S is very inexpensive to buy and own since the parts are also inexpensive and when it crashes it doesn't destroy the whole helicopter.

But regardless which way you go, you should really try to get yourself on a computer sim platform first which will teach you the basics of flight.

I talk about this and a bit more on the following post. Hope it helps a bit and you can for sure reach out with questions.

Cheers!
