With the servo horn 90'ed and the rod hooked up your goal is zero to just a few degrees of counter torque pitch on the tail (closer to tail box)

Btw, discovered that a 5mm feathering shaft wrench holds the metal ball mounts just nicely - dead easy to adjust the link length

Default Pressed the button on a 380 EVO, super excited!

Pretty much done, my god the wiring is a nightmare! May well have to invest in a Powerbus lol

Waiting on a CC a USB programmer so I can set up the Edge Lite, but will now start playing with the Brain, try to bind the 4649T & Sat, set up my Tx etc, etc....wish me luck!

The P380 powerbus actually works nicely with the CC edge since telemetry is carried on the throttle. Makes for nice neat wiring.

Thanks CBH, I will definitely consider completely re-wiring everything and getting a Powerbus at some point, will see how I go,

Do you have to trim down and re-crimp the cables to suit the powerbus?

IMO trimming is really only needed for the front servo connection. I kept the ESC wires stock as well since it makes working on it easier(for example, when swapping pinions I can remove the esc cage and flip it out of the way w/o disconnecting anything).

Thanks again,

Question to anyone using a 4649T & Sat - I bound ok to the Sat but no activity on the Rx? This was via the Brain software bind, do I need to bind the Rx separately? The Rx hooks up to the laptop ok, using a Spektrum Updater cable & software, I get the orange light come on and can read the serial number. No orange light when connected to the Brain though?

Also (sorry!), I donít have my CC usb programmer yet, I need to activate live link before I can go through the ESC/motor setup, right?

Both ESC & BEC orange lights are on, I get the startup tone and 6 beeps when connected, and Iím reading 5.3v through the Brain software (BEC default is 5.25v)

Andy, how do you power the Brain during binding? Just via USB or via flight pack? The SPM4649T needs power from servo bus, therefore USB is not enough. I made that mistake in the beginning and already thought that the SPM4649 is broken because there was no light

Hmmm....I "think" I may have only tried binding on USB power actually, now you say that, I'll retry in a bit from main power, fingers crossed! (thanks)

Edited to add - couldn't wait to find out lol, dropped what I was doing and re-did the bind under main power - worked!! Thanks Mulchi!

You do need to make sure the ESC is setup in castle software. If you have the little resistor harness for CC link live, I'm not even sure you can select the no esc telemetry option on the gov setup page and have it work.

Best to just make sure everything is setup in CC software. Unfortunately you do need the USB connector for this. If you're using brain gov, make sure you select RPM out on the aux wire and multirotor type on throttle tab page. Lastly, you'll need to calibrate the throttle out min and max in brain S/W for CC ESC.

Itís alive!!! So pleased, everything set up and working fine.

I also learned that you canít program a CC BEC 2.0 whilst the 2nd power lead (black & white cables) is plugged into the Brain....doh

Set up the Edge Lite for external gov mode, switched on RPM output for the aux wire, tweaked a couple other settings, swapped a couple of the motor wires around, set the BEC to 7.5v (May up to 8.4v at some point), programmed the end points in Brain software and set up my banks - all working, very pleased.

Telemetry All works on my DX6 too, awesome!

Question - Iíve read that some people put their ESC into multirotor or airplane mode, rather than ďexternal govĒ mode, any benefits?

Looking forward to the maiden this weekend!

Multirotor and Airplane mode give the Brain full control and allows the Brain to control soft start and autorotation bailout. External governor hands over throttle control, but the ESC controls soft-start still and thus you have to use autorotation bailout in the ESC, else the ESC will do a soft-start instead.

If I remember right I always use multirotor mode.

Congrats and good luck with the maiden!

With external gov, you can use the ESC's softstart which is smoother than what the FBL controller can do with raw throttle input. Setup is a bit more involved(in external gov) with autorotation bailout mainly because there's a handoff between ESC and FBL throttle control.

I just didn't feel a need to go there(softstart was good already) and stuck with multirotor(i think airplane w/ fastest throttle reponse setting will be similar). All setup and control is handled by the brain.

Ok, got it, many thanks. I may have a play around with the settings and see which I prefer

I do prefer the multirotor mode, seems to soft-start the motor better. I did increase the timing from 5 to 8 too.

What a fabulous adventure!
