Default Servo page 5 question

Just curious. Do I need all these either normal or all reversed to have rescue work? Or can it be 1 normal 2 reversed vise versa? Just troubleshooting why my rescue went wild when I tried it.

They need to be set to the proper setting to obtain the proper movement of swashplate servos according to your transmitter stick movements.

When you experience an unexpected reaction in rescue mode it is usually because the orientation of the unit is not set properly in the software. Did you verify that is is set to the correct mounting position in the software?

I believe so matt. It seemed pretty bullet proof with the little picture at the start of the set up. I will double check for sure though

Don't just try random stuff, understand what you are doing.

The BD is like an onboard pilot, it needs to learn:
- How you are speaking to it (left, right, forward, back, etc...)
- How the aircraft works (what tilts the blades in which direction)
- How it is sitting in the aircraft (what is forwards, what is up)

On the TX/RX you set up the directions of the signals from the TX to the BD. This way the BD knows your intent from the TX (can correctly receive instructions - left, right, forward, back). Once you have this set, DO NOT CHANGE IT.

The Swash setup tells the BD how the aircraft works (which servo controls which part and which way they are set up). If the BD wants to make the heli move forward, which servo (or combinations of servos) needs to move to make the swash do what you need.

Do not judge by the swash plate movement, judge by the main rotor movement (leading edge control and trailing edge control need different swash movement to achieve the right goal). I am assuming you know the relationship between blade movement and in-air control (ie. approximately 90 degrees out of phase).

Also remember some models (not many) have an H120 with the elevator (in line) servo at the front, not the rear. In these cases 1 is back right, 2 is back left, 3 is front (instead of the usual 1 front left, 2 front right, 3 back).

Once you get the servo movement right, all other setup parameters should work the way you expect.

*Note:*
If you have servo movement reversed and TX/RX reversed the heli can fly, but rescue and self level will assume the heli is inverted and try fix as best they can. (ie. Rescue you into the ground - "Rescue mole" instead of "Rescue mode").

("Servo Trim" really should be on a different page as it needs to be done AFTER "Swash", but before "Servo Travel")

Hope this makes sense and helps.

What exactly do you mean when you say "rescue went wild". Was this in flight or on the bench, or ?

If you follow the wizard step by step and word for word everything will work.

The common reason Rescue doesn't work while normal flight works ok, is usually because you did some reversing in the TX instead of on the Mixer tab.

Again, if you are new to BD you must follow the wizard very carefully. You use TX reverses ONLY while on the Diagnose tab to get the bars moving in the correct direction. Ther servos will porbably not all be going in the correct direction at this point but once the bars are moving right, never change a TX reverse. Later, you use the Mixer tab to get the actual servo motions correct. Combined with a correct choice of the mounting orientation, this will give you a Rescue that works.
