Lightbulb pro with intergrated reciever?

was looking at the frsky site and there xsr-m is smaller then the spirit pro
https://www.frsky-rc.com/product/xsr-m/

So is it possible to make a integrated version with the receiver in the same case with telemetry ect already connected?

That would make for a very tidy (and more durable) install.

Opinions?

Then it becomes transmitter-brand specific ?

Can't see it being viable for flybarless unit that covers all transmitter brands.
The market would be greatly reduced.

As the others have said, the big downside would be that the FBL would then become Tx brand specific. Also there are likely to be copyright issues unless the Tx manufacturer is onboard.

Lightbulb yes this version would be brand specific

Of course this would be a "brand specific" version just like the telemetry cable for frsky is made for this single reason...
Copyright is not a issue when buying other brands parts and use them in your product.

It should be relative easy to do ; just a short cable between the 2 boards and a redesigned case.

I have already ordered 2 of the receivers and am looking into designing a 3d printed case to combine the boards but would love to have a aluminum cased one.

but it very much is an issue if Spirit were to copy the technology used in specific receiver brands without the permission of the manufacturer. Sure there are already 'compatible' receivers but these are invariably made and sold from China where there aren't the same rules.

Talking why copy?

frsky has a unit that is perfect to be stacked on top of the current pro pcb.
There is no need for any copying or even redesigning boards or changing software.
Just stick the ORIGINAL frsky unit in the same case as the spirit board.

Simple.

the ONLY part that needs to be designed is the case EVERYTHING else are off the shelf units THAT ALREADY EXIST.

This could be a great ADDITION to the spirit line (that you don't have to buy if you do not like it... )

Not enough of a market to make it worth doing. The overwhelming majority of us are not using frsky

Lightbulb sales figures

i would love to know how many of the frsky telemetry cables are being sold since that would show the (minimum ) number of frsky systems in use

A case is a bit more expensive to design and make but still might be profitable.

idea is good, but can't do it. You would have to manufacture so many different units with brand specific receiver installed.... Too many types to manufacture, and too many different units to have all of them in stock.

And you could not resell your unit easily after switching radio brand.

Is it that much more complicated to use a receiver and connect it with single wire?
