Default Tail not holding CGY 750

This heli is a Trex550 and flys great except for tail not holding. It has a BLS 251on tail everything is mechanical perfect as can be. I've tried playing around with rudder gain and when in a hover,if I flip it inverted the tail rotates about 30 degrees every time, always the same direction. There's nothing binding when I do hard punch outs tail ocalates and at the top of the climb it returns tic tocs are impossible? I'm flying 700N with the same setup it's tail holds perfect, this gyro is a v.2 version . Help!

Tell us a little more about your setup please.
  1. How far out on the servo horn is the ball?
  2. What voltage are you running the BLS251 on?
  3. How are you stepping the voltage down for the BLS251?
  4. What are the values for F/F Rate in the Rudder Gyro Expert menu?
  5. Also has this model been crashed and by chance elevator or aileron is being added mechanically during your flip.
  6. What gain are you at?

The ball is in second hole from the servo center
The heli has a castle creation BEC 5 volts I think
I tried the feed forward tunning in the expert menu adding up to +20 H/L and -20 that's as far as I went
And as far is aileron and elevator imputed on flip, maybe but not every time
I have played with gains ( radio 14SGH ) from 30-80 still won't hold
I am flying 90 mm tail blades
The only thing I'm not sure of is tail servo voltage from the bec other servos are align they are fine

Make F/F Rate for both High and Low 0 again.
F/F Rate is a fine tuning step after other items are adjusted.
Also make sure ACC.Gain is 0.
These two settings are precompensation settings. You want the tail dialed in well before using these expert settings.

The ball distance from center, can you get that in millimeters?
Also what are your tail endpoints?
You want your tail endpoints to be between 90 and 110 to maintain mechanical and electronic gain.
If you slider is centered on the tail output shaft than both left and right travel numbers would be equal. If your slider is not centered than the shorter travel side is what you want between 90 and 110. You can then match the travel number on the longer side.

I'll make sure the FF is set to 0 for H/L and get distance in mm today, I'll check the ACC gain is set to 0 and I know that the end points are 100 L/R Also according to new software the cycling of the designated switch associated with the rudder gyro is no longer required after trim flight?

FF set was set to 0 H/L
ACC was at 0
Ball distance is 10.5 mm center to center
Travel 100/100

I did center up pitch slider two full turns

With the travel at 100/100 does the tail reach the mechanical limits on either side?
What travel numbers take you to the mechanical limits?

I see that in the Align 550 manual they call out a distance of 13mm for the tail servo horn ball placement.
Can you take it out one hole further, readjust your endpoints and test?

After the last post I moved the gyro gain from conditions to a switch so I could make a trim flight, after making trim flight which was no more that a hover, landed cycled the switch as per procedure, changed battery and when the gyro initialized the swashplate compensation was totally wrong, looking into the gyro settings it had Defaulted to factory settings. Has anyone ever had this happen? I'm returning it ?

I suggest you contact Hobby Services to arrange service for your CGY-750 before flying anymore with that particular controller.

Hey Full Montee really appreciate you sharing you Expertise in this problem with thus heli, hopefully this will resolve the tail issues even though I have my doubts. After the controller is either repaired or replaced, I'll look you up after the reassembly and let you know the outcome?
Thanks Glenn

I find this thread intersting.
I have an N5 that holds ok but the tail rotor servo(MKS BLS990) gets very hot after half tank of forward flying and goes hunting at mid stick when going inverted and lowering the gain doesnīt help. End point in one side is about 110% and the other side is about 125%
I think I will move outward the servo ball so I can keep end points between 110% and 90% and test fly again.
So I should ask why is it important to keep end points between 90% and 110%?

Before sending it off, double check you are not using an Sbus2 port on your Rx for the connection to your CGY. It is a known issue and we have seen this reset of settings as one of the outcomes of using the wrong port.

Hey Full Montee! Just received email from Futaba in reguads to cgy750 that I sent in for repair they said controler basically could not be repaired and offered me a GY 701??? Which I have 2 of and are useless unless you have a fly bar heli. She also stated that Futaba has a controller in the planing stages but didnít know when it would be available. So the 2 nitro helis Iím flying with this same controller with the old software that have been rock solid so far Iíll keep flying them, maybe?
Anyone know of a better alternative ? Iím gonna put the trex550 back as a flybar heli with gy502 and sell it
