Default Is that my neighbor's BBQ or my 330x?

I was working on a few adjustment on the 330x and had the esc armed. After 5mins the motor/esc started beeping (new feature?). I ignored it the best I could, but 5mins later I was wondering why the BBQ next door was getting so smelly. Turned out the heli was the source. I touched the motor and it must have been about 100deg (Celsius). I guess if you ignore something annoying for long enough it self destructs.

Ok, to be fair I was retrofitting the trusty old AR7200BX onto the thing but still

Or maybe it was the spare 450x canopy that I had on the table that was going on next.

Now, if I just swap out the ESC

But I'll keep the new metal gear servos.

Please remind me not to come to a BBQ at your place if your BBQ smells like an electrical short circuit fire!!!

Lots of things that fly and crash!

That beeping is to let you know that the battery is still plugged in; it also doubles its function as a lost model alarm. Unfortunately, it is normal for the motor to overheat while it is beeping for some time. The quads' motors do it too unless you lower the beacon (beeping) strength and intensity. I don't know if you can adjust the beacon parameters in 330x ESC though. Hopefully the motor is not damaged because that smell was from enamel burning off of the coils (plus heat damaged magnets).

Default .....

I know this is the 330x forum but I wanted to tell you that my fusion 270 does the same thing. Must be a common thing on the newer stuff. What helped me was my old talon 90 would beep when it got too hot so when I first heard the beeping I thought somethings wrong. Started touching stuff and found my motor was pretty hot, but not so hot I was smelling anything. Just a tip to avoid the hot motor thing, unplug two of your esc leads and you can leave your lipo hooked up with no worries.
