Default Runryder

Haven't seen this posted on Helifreak yet. Definitely qualifies as news. Runryder will be ending July 1 it seems, sadly. Runryder and Helifreak have been the two most significant forums to me in my time in the hobby. There's many great people who are members of Runryder.

Default RunRyder Closing

It looks like our sister heli Website RunRyder is going to be pulling the plug in July.

There will undoubtedly be an influx of members from there coming here so lets be as welcoming as possible (which I'm sure will be the case).

I'm sure many of us are (or have been) on their site too.

Sad to see it happen. Good luck to Mark and all those involved over the years.

I have barely used Runryder.. the forum setup just was so complicated... but I sure LOVE Mark's videos from IRCHA and other events... very sad if this is the true and if it is let's all be sure to give a warm welcome to all the Runryder peeps who will be moving onto our side of town.

+1

There was minimal activity there, probably one of the reasons, why.

Default man these puzzles lol

yep. Sad to see it go. Ive been an active member on RunRyder since 2007. I just joined you guys today (well technically yesterday). Hard to judge because I haven't seen how active this site is yet although obviously Ive been here and read threads before, but RunRyder has been anything but slow in activity. That's not the reason its shutting down at all. Just saying. took a couple hours to get the feel for it, but not any more complicated that any there forum based website. The place was full of useful people, knowledge, and a fantastic place to buy and sell. Ive gotten nearly ALL of my helicopters off that site. and sold a ton there too.

Dang it I love runryder for the way they had there events page. Organized by date! On helifreak it's rare that people put in the events page and on the calander. So when you go to events you could be looking at the first thing that poped up from a year ago just cause someone posted in it.

Same here. I joined HF and RR at the same time, about 1 month ago. I have never used any kind of forums before, so it was a little bit hard to get by and figure out how everything worked in the first 3 days (on HF). For some reason the overall layout page and features of the RR seem rather complicated and dull compared to here. That is just a first impression though, I didn't actually spent much time trying to use the site (exactly because of this weird feeling I got). Anyway, I think it's good to have everyone together in one place.

It is a sad exclamation mark on the slow down of the heli market. I have participated on both for years, RR in the day was the go to for classified activity.

It might just be a changing market or an interest thing.

I know one thing these stupid 250g weight limits are not going to help one bit. And all the socialists that like big government and accept this stuff without batting a glittered, extended eyelash ain't helping.

I am pretty sure George Carling would have had a field day with this stuff if he was around. RotorHeads show should be right on this too.

Been seeing the decline over there for a few years.. when I started the hobby in 2006 Runryder was the biggest forum to join.. so much activity on that site at the time.. Learned a lot from there and it got me started in the rc hobby.. sad to see it go

It's sad to see not just for the hobby and the site but for Mark. May God bless him for all he has done for us over the years and keep him in good health for the time he has left on this earth.

A lot of their membership will probably end up over here now.

I wonder how that's going to go.

Has the heli market really declined?
Seems like there's more brands, models and electronics to choose from than ever before. A lot more pilots in my town then there used to be as well.

Yes a few companies have went under but that's because they couldn't compete in today's market.

Anyways, when I look around locally helis are alive and well. Quad guys turned to micro heli guys and now are transitioning to OXY, SAB, ect. ect..kit heli guys.
