Default Best sub $200 Spektrum radio for mCPS ?

Hey All,
I have a mCPS on the way. I own a DX6i that I would like to replace with a newer Spektrum radio. What is the best radio for use with the smaller Blade products?
Thanks,
DaMayor

The mCPS is designed to work with a 6-channel transmitter, so you're good at that price point.

But while the price point is attractive for a 6-channel transmitter - they're all US$200 or less now - I always urge people to at least consider a transmitter with more channels. As the technology keeps advancing and you get features such as stabilization/SAFE, cameras, and whatever else they dream up, then you may wish you had channel #7 someday. But if the DX8G2 blows the budget at US$299 and is out of the question, then the next one I'd consider is the DX6G3 at US$199.

I wouldn't recommend a DX6e (US$149) without holding it and trying it out first. The DX6e is made from the same case as the DXe, which isn't a high-end transmitter by any means. There are other compromises as well with the DX6e. The DX6G3 supports the faster DSMX frame rate of 11ms and supports a lot more heli swash types, which would both be big features if you find yourself getting into more/bigger helis. The DX6G3 also has the voice callout feature found in the more expensive transmitters. I say it's not a gimmick - if you take the time to program voice callouts on your switches such as "high rates", "low rates", the names of the flight modes, and so on, you'll thank yourself when you try to pick up a model you haven't flown for six months and try to remember what the switches do.

Here's a great comparison sheet that Spektrum puts out about the various transmitters.

DX6e $150 or DX6 $200. Go to your LHS and handle them. I prefer the feel of thr 6e personally. A used DX9 is my recommendation though.
